Rumor: Hawks expected to make big splash (Robertson, Knies, etc)

  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Trade, offer sheet or not go after Robertson

No. Thats what the value for them is in a trade, period.
do you unironically think that there's no such thing as a good or bad deal because every asset always trades exactly at its value by definition? there's no room whatsoever in your mind for a distinction between value and price?

marginalism and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Depends on the team and the position they are in. I only don't like the deal because I dont think the Hawks are ready for a deal like that, but I think the value of Byram is what was paid.

they paid the sabres' price. now all that remains to be seen is what byram's price is, and whether or not he actually provides value proportional to cost.

Caps even tossed in a 3rd for the privledge of giving Tuch that terrible contract. Note to self....careful trading with Jarmo

The price went up when other teams valued him almost as much as the Hawks. Therefore, thats what his value ended up being in a trade.
so you do unironically think there's no such thing as a good or a bad deal, that the value of any given asset is literally just its sales price, and you only answered the question evasively because when i put it like that it sounds stupid. dope.

I still dont get why Toronto would trade Knies

Roberson only target for big splash
"Pardon the interruption"

Its for same reason Eklund was traded by SJ. If you plan to draft a high profile winger, a high profile winger has to be shipped out. Since Nylander has a NMC, Knies is easy choice here.

Cheers everyone 😅

Dude, the NHL is a closed market; this 'invisible hand of the market' nonsense flies even less within this context than it does in actual open economic markets.
True. The invisible hand only exists in pricing within a market of many buyers and sellers of a non-differentiated product with a wealth of available product knowledge. None of which exists in an NHL trade,

I mean if I were to go buy a Honda accord for 100k that doesn’t mean the value of the accord is 100k. Even if that accord got me to work at my 400k job, and the value was “worth it” to me, that doesn’t mean the car is worth 100k

yeah but what if your neighbor offered 90k for it? when you think about it like that, you can't afford not to.

Connor Zary being available for one of our 2nds wouldnt be a bad idea..still some upside there and would allow us to package something together to land a first line player.

Not a good skater and now has suffered multiple knee injuries

There is a reason the Flames are trying to move 24 yr old

He also proved he cant play C in NHL which was the big selling point on him as a future two way #3C at draft
