Trade, offer sheet or not go after Robertson

if this is true than Blackhawks should be terrified
most of the players requesting trades are going on nearly ten years of their respective franchise spinning tires...if we get to 2033 and Chicago has gone nowhere, I wouldn't blame Bedard for leaving, if he signs an 8-year extension that brings him to UFA around then after being here long enough to see things play out...even McDavid is fed up in Edmonton and he's as loyal as it gets for superstars

When all is said and done a hero will rise from the ashes...

It was always a bit bizarre how players were just OK being in the same organization for years despite the team going nowhere...those days appear to be over with and the league will be more interesting as a result
Were they? I feel like Shane Doans were acknowledged as a rarity. Some people would mock him for not wanting to leave to be on a competitive team.

I dont think this is a huge shift

With Vegas and Florida continuing to sell of futures for the present, eventually father time will turn their cores into pumpkins. Hopefully we can become part of the next wave of teams that all players want to come to. We just have to hope Chicago being liveable and the original 6 legacy can outweigh the tax advantages.

Curious to see what comes of Florida, Edmonton, Colorado, Tampa, and Vegas once their cores get old and bad.

Well Tampa for instance hasn’t won a playoff round in 4 years now. So it might already be there for them.

Fairly shocked Ottawa took all picks back. That 2029 top 10 protected first will be especially useless for anything they do the next 3 years. Nobody is waiving to accept a trade to Ottawa after they downgraded the roster.

I’m gonna guess Brady only wanted to go to Florida even if he gave Ottawa multiple options. Forced their hand so they’re lucky they got what they did.

must have something bigger lined up they need picks for. I cant see them going into a rebuild after just making the playoffs with a younger core

Cats are gonna scoop Binnington in all likelihood, probably move off Rodrigues to move some cap around

We won a cup with Niemi, Vegas won with Hill, Canes just won with an old Freddy Andersen and waiver wire pickup

The team is more than capable
Florida has around $7m left and needs to sign a 7th defenseman and two goalies.

Let's say they go with Binnington. JB's cap is 6m per, so the Blues would need to retain, though it wouldn't cost much given his recent performance and only having one season left on his deal.

But Binnington's save percentage last season was worse than Bob's, so not sure how viable that is an option for them.

If they want a goalie worth a shit with salary retained, they are going to have to pay a pretty penny for it, and they are running out of pennies.
