GDT: Hawks @ Bolts, 28 Jan 2025, 6 PM CST

I think I'm destined to be a big fan of Slaggert. His game reminds me of Hagel's when he first came into the league. Doesn't take a shift off.

My only surprise with him is that it's taken so long to get a callup. I thought he looked really good in his stint last year too.

In fact, I was a bit shocked he wasn't on the opening night NHL roster, but maybe he had a bad camp. I didn't really follow the camp or preseason at all.

Now that was a fun game to watch

I am starting to get a little worried that we offload Jones right before he can play with good players and It will bite us.

He will definitely play better with good players but he is currently 30 and will likely be 32 before Levshunov even sniffs the NHL. Age just doesn't gel with our core

I would still be shocked if Jones gets traded this year. The rumblings are coming from other teams calling the Hawks on him, not the Hawks trying to sell him or get out of his contract. He has a full NMC, the Blackhawks don't want to trade him, and he doesn't want to be traded.

I know a lot of us don't like his contract and I'll admit he hasn't lived up to it. But I would guess that with the cap going up and given the dearth of talented RHD, he would get close to the same contract he has if he hit the market as a UFA this summer.

It was a goalie win. Don't expect that to happen all the time but it was nice to see Soda have a great game.

Nazar, Allan, Bedard, Slaggert and Del Mastro are all looking better. There's finally a reason to watch this team again.

Good win here. What a conundrum to be in. It's nice to see the team playing well but jeez I hope they don't play themselves out of a top 3 pick. The team could really use a Schafer or a Misa.
Let's not get carried away here. No question that Hawks had some good moments for sure but make no mistake, that was a goaltending steal more than Hawks playing well. There were many breakdowns throughout this game and Soder had to come to the rescue far too often.

That was a lazy play by Vlasic.....I'm wondering if he's not completely healthy...doesn't seem to be the shut down D man he was earlier this year. Tampa isn't as deep as they once were, but they put a lot of fricking pressure on the other team. Soda shutting the door during the 4 minute and breakaway were key.

What on earth are you even saying? If you finish last place you have the highest odds of picking first, are you ok? That is literally how it works, what goal post? Again are you ok? Last place equals highest odds, the goal is the highest odds to PICK FIRST.

Last place has highest odds at 25.5%
2nd last has 13.5% to pick first
3rd last has 11.5%

It is laughable that people who don’t even understand simple numbers try to educate you on numbers
You complained about the team winning and how, because of it, we'll end up with 2nd or 3rd overall instead, as if either of those picks are bad. But neglect to mention in your original post that the worst team is unlikely to win 1st overall.

But now you're trying to tell Me the odds? I'm not the one bitching that we're ruining our chances at 1st overall and then later saying 'I'm actually mad because I think our gm would make a bad pick at 2nd or 3rd, so I'm mad we won even though finishing last still likely doesn't mean getting 1st'.

You complain when we lose. You complain when we win. Joke.

Vlasic is playing over his head, IMO. I don't think he's quite a top pairing D, or maybe a low end #2, but he's basically being played like he's a #1. He is bound to struggle here and there, as young Dman. He'd be a much more effective Dman, playing 20mins a night, instead of 24mins he's getting.

I saw many things I liked last night. The young forwards in particular.

To pick nits, a couple of plays by Bedard got me up off the couch!
Had the puck in the slot on the backhand and just wouldn't let a backhander go. He also made a couple of touch pass attempts at some VERY BAD spots on the ice.

These risky plays are nothing new and it needs to be coached out of Bedard. He's not a rookie anymore...nice goal though.

If Vlasic could be convinced to use his big body to his advantage along with his good stick work, he'd be a dynamite dman. He doesn't have to smoke guys, just get body position and/or lean on them more often.

He does this all the time from what I’ve seen. More than anyone else on this team.
