  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
That's a model that works for Carolina but it does not mean it would work for Chicago.

Improving the overall talent level on the roster is the goal. Getting Byram helps with that. I also believe Byram will not be the only significant addition to the roster. Improve roster hopefully translates to more wins and/or playoffs.
Riiiiight.

if you've followed Hockey at all the last 25 years they said the same about Chara you KD fanboy
They said Chara was similar to Chara back in the day?

Listen boomer by the time Chara was Creviers age he was already a runner up for the Norris so you can stop trying to draw parallels between the two of them they are not close at all.

People are comparing Byram to Keith,, When Keith was Byram's age he was already a 25 minute a night #1 stud finishing 11th in Norris voting and all-star

Acclaimed league wide as a young star on rise

Yet I don't see your post admonishing people on that, oddly

Reality is we dont know what future holds for Crevier but its not unreasonable to expect him to continue to improve as he has done each and every year and the loss of Crevier leaves a good sized hole in our D and leaves us weaker defensively

You missed the Islanders/Chara days I see. Craplenniel. Kyle Davidson is a terrible GM btw.

Freidman is saying there were three competing offers on the table with top 10 picks. Davidson hit the right combo of taking money and giving up depth pieces to win.

Why do you assume he was out there just tossing favors in willy nilly?
because I think KD is the worst GM in the league, totally clueless at what he is doing... bad at making trades, horrible in free agency, bad at drafting... he never should have gotten this job and he should have been fired last year

So you understand that just because he played in the 2nd pairing, that doesn't make him a 2nd pairing dman. Good to know.
not a single thing about his numbers/metrics suggest he's a 1st pair D-Man... dahlin was their 1... and byram was no better than samuelsson offensively or power defensively... why is it so hard to understand byram is not a good defensive defenseman and would be a liability as a top pair guy? again, why are we acting like this dude is on the level of a quinn hughes or werenski?

You all need another day or two to get this anger out of your system. After that quit your whining and look forward to enjoying Byram’s talents as a Blackhawk. Chances are he’s gonna be really good here.
nah, because i so badly want KD fired so that a future rebuild of this rebuild can succeed I will hope byram fails miserably...

Why do we not ban trolls?
Because there are rules in place and all the lottery tickets I keep buying are duds so I can't afford to buy this site and implement my own martial law.

Believe me when I say that I know who is and isn't causing trouble on here. I just can't act on any of it until it's something worth taking action on.

My ignore list is pretty much entirely just .... trolls. They contribute nothing and just make inflammatory posts to piss off Hawks' fans.

Believe me, I know. But it's a high threshold to prove someone is a troll and you can't just ban a poster you don't like, they've gotta get what is generally 4 warnings (with pts) in a limited amount of time to even get a temp ban.

Again, it's really not up to me. Think I've shown a willingness to try to remove the worst offenders and so long as I'm a mod, I'll try to continue to do that.

Though this is the last I'm gonna say about the matter here. There are rules about discussing this shit (like ignore lists) and this is way off the threads main topic.

I just looked at the highest paid D men..

Harley 10.5
Lacombe 9mil
Luke Hughes 9mil

Unless he gives us a "hometown" discount, he's definitely getting 10mil min.
Style wise and caliber of play the comparison should be Harley

Both behind stud future HOF level Ds playing number two mins

All dmen 25 years or younger, Byram finished 6th overall in goals and 7th overall in points...with mid level power play time. Yeah, pretty confident this dude is going to make a big jump next year.
Seravili been going around saying he would bet a mortgage payment he hits 60 points next year

We really haven't had a push like this from the backend like this since Brian Campbell

Keith/Seabrook and Jones could all contribute but I don't think anyone would call any of those guys puck rushing, offensive defense men

Your forgetting the legend that was Gus!

Still remember a faction of posters here wanted to give him a big long-term deal after that single fluke season
