He's a BIG 4th line plug who will drop the gloves ....his issue has been injuries.....given the Hawks TOTAL lack of toughness, this trade does address 2 needs. Not a 1 dimensional trade, just seems KD could have given up a little less. I'd still like to trade for Edmundson so you've got some muscle on the 4th and D.

Greenway is not tough, lets not act like he is a 4th lone grinder enforcer. He is a soft power forward who acted tough before he got to the pro level and is injury prone. Waste of money, hopefully he just learns to park his butt in front of the net and plays with a little moxy so he can get one last contract.

If Crevier turns into Chara 2.0 or something close to it in a few years ... and thats a big if but nonetheless this trade is a disaster because Byram has hit his ceiling and Greenway will be hurt his entire tenure here.

Byram hit his ceiling but a player who is older still has a chance of hitting a Chara like ceiling?

Buffalo seemed to make it work and get the most out of Dahlin, Byram, Samuelsson and Power. I think the Hawks can manage Byram and Lev and making sure both get the ice time they need.

Frank Seravallivweighedcin on the Byram deal....pouted out that immediately Byram becomes best Hawks dman eve if he stays at the level he was before(= 2nd pairing level) as a floor..
But he said hexwas willing to bet a mortgage payment that Byram will get at a mknuimum 60+ poibts i a top pairongvrole and as pp qb.

He also pointed out that Hawks were getting a sure thing who should be fine in a top pair role ratger than hope their #4dman pick if they had gone that route would become a 1D level D in the next 5 years after development..
Seravalli said Hawks liked several 5 or 6 dmen but were not in love with any 1 of them becoming a top dman I the league...so that maybe their ceiling would only be as good as Byram's anyway...and that looking at past #4s in last 16 NHL drafts 4 of them never played an NHL game...and only 7 of them are NHL players today today =pretty big gamble on success even for as high as a#4 pick.
So Hawks bet on certainty of a proven NJL player with at least 2nd pairing floor and a still higher ceiling of given a bigger role that he never had the chance with before ..

You can still say Hawks overpaid ..but you cannotcdeny that immediately Byram is the Hawks best dman till some of the young D are fully developed and maybe 1cof Lev or Rinzel will eventually surpass Byram's level and if both do then you are laughing as 3 core D woukd be locked in.

So maybe KD overpaid ...but still improved 1 portion of the team.
