  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
If the Hawks were convinced McKenna, Stenberg and Reid were gone 1-2-3 then this is a no brainer. Byram is a #1 d in the prime of his career. He can play both sides. Having a player like him makes this team instantly better and helps not just the D around him but also the forwards.

I like the deal. Bjorck, Malhotra etc were years away. This turns the corner on the rebuild into the build phase which signals forward progress instead of another ass kicking kids year

Bigger question is how much "love" management still has for the existing high draft picks on D, #2 and #7, respectively, on them turning out to be top D men in the NHL, how long they are projected to get there [if ever], and how that affects management's "love" [or a lack thereof] for the D prospects in this draft
I remember when people wanted to turn #2 into a F when he was in Norfolk.

Highly doubt that’s the case either. If it somehow is, it won’t last for long. Comparing contracts now to those signed before the significant trend up in the cap is kind of pointless anyway.
Dontbesaad20 tweeted yesterday that its going to be 7 years 12.5 aav (before any of the details of the trade were even known).

Now you're probably saying who tf is that? He's just some random twitch streamer/YouTuber who play NHL video games... BUT he has broken 2 major stories for Blackhawks over the past few years, one of them being the Seth Jones trade so he almost certainly does know somebody inside the organization.

So until proven otherwise I'm going to trust that that's what it's going to be.

I just looked at the highest paid D men..

Harley 10.5
Lacombe 9mil
Luke Hughes 9mil

Unless he gives us a "hometown" discount, he's definitely getting 10mil min.

Okay, guess we’ll see if that’s how it plays out.

I wonder if you start

Vlasic-Byram
Kaiser-Lev

Feed Vlasic-Byram 24+ mins. I just don't see Byram's rushing and roving game being something that'll allow Lev to develop the way he has to

One of the defenses of this trade was that it properly slots Vlasic? How is this properly slotting him?

Vlasic has long shown he isn't a top pairing LD
