  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
52, 38, 27 points. era adjusted he's close but not quite. Thought about him tho

Byrams career high is 38 and 42 pts,,, So where is this nonsense of him being the most talented defender offensively to play for Hawks coming from?

Seabrook was more talented offensively (And far more talented defensively)

Shows how dire things have become that people have to make such absurd claims about Byram and his play to try and justify this debacle

I do enjoy Sabres fans findin the clip of Crevier's one fight where he got worked and saying they are adding toughness to the lineup. Love me some Crevier, found money, but he's probably the softest player at that size in league history. Good player good stick not hating just reality.

Which is why I believe the Hawks sold high on Crevier.

Want to talk about selling high on someone

Sabres just got a kings ransom for Bowen Byram of all people.. Just completely robbed Hawks and stuck us with soon to be one of the worst contracts in NHL

Imagine paying Bryam to be the top or among top paid defenders in NHL and giving up all the assets we did to make it possible

Must say its fascinating all the "Byram will be better" stuff ignoring the very clear upward trajectory of a still young Louis Crevier

Given recent history of Hawks mismanagement of young defenders wont be shocking to see him have big career post Chicago like others

BWC tonight with anti Byram posts one after another 😂

You’re assuming anyone has the balls to question him and not let him off the hook if he gives a non answer.
What does that cause or entail? Because all you get is. I've said what I will about that or no comment... the idea a sports journalist can get someone to say, actually, since you keep asking, I'll say this instead... doesn't exist. For 20 years of message boards I've seen this complaint from every fanbase as if some result will happen.

The Toronto Steve Stasios? Guy was direct about Chakya's bad record, results, and reputation in Torontos pressers... he was holding them to it... nothing happens, nothing is different, no insight is altered. I guess it's a desire for this pre-PR trained world by most staff.

The sticker shock of pick 4 is a lot until you realize the likely outcome was Reid or Carels and waiting...Stenberg went to -700 after SJ got pick 9...they probably offered 4 for both Knies and Robertson...I get it if they preferred Byram now to the prospects given where they are

Logan Stanley, an objectively better player than Crevier played 14 minutes a night. Crevier got to play 17+ a night for Hawks.

He has 20 career points in 118 AHL games. 32 points in 134 NHL games.

It is objectively more realistic to expect his 25 points will be a career high.

Look back at the Seth jones trade. Hawks gave up high picks sure, but what did they become? Cole Sillinger, David Jiricek, Adam Boqvist, and Aleksi Heimosalmi LOL. If you ask CBJ I think they don’t do that trade now, Sillinger is the only one worth anything and it’s not much. Hawks got the best player in the deal and yeah didn’t work out for them either, but now got their young good starting goalie and a first out of it. Giving up draft picks a lot of times can either really burn you, or make you look really good. Time will tell

For real, 4OA should have been more than enough, not sure anyone can debate that.

In theory, yes. But we don't know who else was talking with Buffalo about Byram. A player's stock, especially this off-season, can rise quite quickly. It made sense that Buffalo would want a dman back. The 2nd round pick seemed unnecessary, but the chances of that turning into anything for the Hawks was close to zero.

Bucci said SJ offered 9+27+..Stenberg and Byram would've been solid for them

Steep price but I see why KD is making this gamble.
Either get your young NHL D-man now or wait for the #4 pick to mature into one in 3-4 years.

Hopefully it works out well.
I expect him to package the remaining 2nds to jump back into the later 1st round.

Also going to point out Greenway is a horrendous skater while being absolute liability and worthless in all other aspects of game

Odd to see our GM bring him in given people here always dismissed actual talent like Michkov, etc speculated about in recent months claiming they dont fit what Davidson wants which is supposedly guys who could skate

Yet here we are bringing in an awful player with $4M cap hit who can neither play game of hockey or skate
