BWC obsessing over Greenway is so funny
Greenway is the worst part of this trade. Hes getting paid like Donato but way worse (I know some of you guys really hate Donato) And he will be another road block to every kid trying to crack the bottom 6. Fantastic. We are now collecting broken down spare parts for forwards

it's an entirely irrelevant part of the trade

he's not blocking any kids

if he sucks, and there's someone better and more deserving of a spot, Greenway goes on waivers, and the only person who suffers is Wirtz

I liken a draft pick to buying a new car. The moment you drive a new car off the property, it loses 50% of its value.

The moment you make a pick, you immediately start criticizing it and it rarely lives up to what it should be. It certainly is never worth as much as when it was a mystery box.

BWC would complain regardless.

He was complaining when they were winning Stanley Cups

Just looking into Byram a bit more, looks like, over the last two seasons, he had the 14th most even strength points for Dmen in the league.

63rd most points by a D on the PP.

Yup, and he’s also played all 82 games each of the past 2 years. Plus 73 games the year before that. The injury concerns aren’t as bad as I initially thought.

3 known concussions in Colorado is pretty bad (And who knows how many unknown or in Jr's)

25 yrs old and already a long concussion history

2 healthy seasons doesn't erase that reality

What does that cause or entail? Because all you get is. I've said what I will about that or no comment... the idea a sports journalist can get someone to say, actually, since you keep asking, I'll say this instead... doesn't exist. For 20 years of message boards I've seen this complaint from every fanbase as if some result will happen.

The Toronto Steve Stasios? Guy was direct about Chakya's bad record, results, and reputation in Torontos pressers... he was holding them to it... nothing happens, nothing is different, no insight is altered. I guess it's a desire for this pre-PR trained world by most staff.
I don’t care one way or the other. I was just making a statement that it’s likely no one presses him and I’ll probably be right.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter nor will it change anything that’s already happened. It would be a nice change up to what we usually see with the Chicago media though, that’s for sure.

i agree. I really don’t see this being a bad overpay at all if Byram resigns and stays healthy.
Yeah, after reflection, I don't think it's that bad. The Hawks have a stocked prospect pool and not everyone will even make it to the Hawks or the show in general. I don't think the fans of other teams who're hollering about fleecing and overpaying know that much about the Hawks system. It's highly doubtful the 4th overall is going to be the next Makar. Time to cash in those lottery tickets for some proven players.

The Hawks are looking to improve and take the next step with the current group. Adding another 18 year old rookie to shore up the D is not going to advance that. Getting a high-pedigree D-man with 300+ games played helps with that.

And Byram has played the full 82 games the past two seasons and improved his career highs doing so. Hopefully the injury woes are behind him and he continues to improve. Signing him next is the most important part.

*sigh*

This was totally a "look Connor, we're trying" move.

If Bedard's camp is looking at a bridge deal to make sure he's not gonna be stuck on a team that isn't ready to win soon, I expect a few more moves that have us overpaying out the ass.

It sucks, but so have we for the past few years.

Definitely wasn’t an overpayment. That’s what a 1D is gonna cost. They gave a 2 futures and Crevier for a legit top pair guy. Still have Nazar, Lev, Rinzel, Moore, Frondell, Kantserov, Lardis, and Greene.

Who the hell is the legit top pair guy we acquired? We traded all that for Bowen Byram who at this point in his career has never shown anything to confuse him for a top pairing defender

Also the only thing top pair about him will be the horrendous contract his agent is going to have Davidson hand him that pays him as if he is a legit top pair guy

We’ll see what Buffalo does to fill the hole Byram left. He produced a lot at even strength.

They seem to think Crevier can fill that hole. I like Crevier, but they’ll be in for a bad shock. He just doesn’t move the puck well enough and won’t be able to fill that specific void. And if he got more minutes than usual, you’d see him really start to struggle. I have him as a #5 guy.

Greenway a very good PK guy. He’s fine for a year as a 4th line guy

I’d prefer we give that 4th line spot to one of the kids tbh. I don’t think Greenway really does much of anything that’s worth taking away a spot from one of our many promising young forwards looking to make the lineup next year.

Need a few vets I think Spellacy and Boisvert are gonna start in Rockford

Fine with Greenway Greene Mangiapane 4th line. Defensively responsible
