Have the 'scary' version of the Devils arrived?

So far they have been spooky at times, but never a serious threat. Right now they set out to embarass the Rangers while they are down, and so far are accomplishing it. Jack Hughes himself has seemed to take the last season losses and Trouba/Rempe-led headshots personally, and is out to score 1 or 2 every game against them.

Spooky Devils teams in the last 2 years have had their moments, but then got their Halloween costume ripped off their face by a more experienced Canes team before really succumbing to injuries and craptastic goaltending the next year.

Are Devils now officially graduated to a "scary" team? Is Markstrom's steadiness the key? Today's mission was to demoralize and potentially torpedo the Rangers entire season, and so far it is working.
Wtf is this post?

Devils fans: The Rangers are a garbage team and a garbage franchise.

Devils beat the Rangers in a random mid-season game.

Devils fans: our team rules! We beat the Rangers!

I see jack and nico out in hoboken. Bratt not nearly as often but have stood next to him spring 2023 at 8th street tavern. Hes shorter than hes listed and cannot weigh more than 165
Jack: Nico....the guy next to me is measuring me and staring at my body.

Nico: lucky you, and it all started with a good breakfast.

Luke Hughes development and instant chemistry with Pesce is one of the biggest stories. Arguably the top defensive pairing in the NHL. Also, Luke Hughes, as I said countless times, is turning elite defensively. Just faster than I expected. He is there now!

They're an excellent team taking the next step towards being dominant. Maybe add one physical forward at the deadline and i could see them beating anyone.

I'm not sure they need much more physicality. They have Noesen, Meier, Cotter, Bastian, Lazar, Haula, Kovacevic, Dillon, and Siegenthaler. Hell, the only forwards who play "soft" are Hughes and Mercer.

All these Devils threads are going to be bumped by salty Rangers fans in Feb/march aren't they?
Threads like this one should never be made. They just bring out hate and ill-will, and always have tremendous risk of salt bumps!

Devils are great and fun to watch, but there will be a lot to learn come playoffs. Godspeed, NJD.

I don't know if the team is scary, but you've given me the Christmas Eve scaries.....

Did you bother to read this thread or is this just a knee jerk reaction?
OP writes 3 paragraphs. 2 of 3 paragraphs are gushing over Hughes and the Devils beating the Rangers, something everyone and their dog is doing these days. But this is the main evidence used by the OP to suggest Devils are scary good. Did I miss something?

Yeah, you missed the majority of Devils fans (which you used in the plural sense) wishing he didn't start the thread in that context, the context should have been the Devils setting a NHL record for most games (seven) in a row giving up 20 or less shots.

In fact they've given up just 16 a game in the streak.

Like I said, you read the OP post and made a knee jerk reaction.

Maybe you didn't notice, but I quoted the OP in my response. Generally when someone does that, that is who they are responding to.

Now, when someone uses a plural, it doesn't necessarily imply every single one, rather just multiple. If you're not that type of Devils fan, then great! It doesn't apply to you.

And as you rightly pointed out, and was at the heart of my initial post, there are many better metrics to determine how good the Devils are playing right now than beating the Rangers.

If you felt my use of the term 'fans' wrongfully included you, then my apologies.

Devils play awesome hockey recently! Great transfers/signings, new coach and solid core. Things work out ...

I m excited about that and so curious how they will prove themselfes in the playoffs. The team has everything to go deep and even win - but it could also fail dramatically. I m enjoying their season - no matter where it goes.

Let's go devils - for once on the main board.

the Devils have played 35 games against teams other than the Rangers, and have been pretty damn elite in those games as well.

happy to help!
