Have the 'scary' version of the Devils arrived?

This thread is a horrible look for Devils fans, it's clearly a cry for attention about wrecking the Rangers today.
We really should keep the dunking on the Rangers to the Devils board.
Not really, good-great teams will get talked about, yeah the Devs haven't done anything in the playoffs, but they look great so far this season+ they really do have a great roster on paper

I don't mind people talking about the Devils, they're playing really good right now, my issue is it shouldn't be a Devils fan making the thread, especially when it's pretty clearly only being made to dunk on a rival.
People keep saying they haven't done anything in the playoffs, they beat the Rangers after dropping the 1st two just a couple seasons ago.

The devils have won one playoff series since 2012. They rebuilt for a decade. We’ll see if going all in on a core of small forwards works come playoff time

They have to actually win a playoff series before this version of the team becomes “scary”

they won a playoff series not even 2 years ago....?

who is this "core" of small forwards? Bratt is small, sure. Jack is bigger than Marchessault who won the Conn Smythe two years ago.

their D are also all giants.

Bratt and Hughes are the only really small forwards, the rest are pretty average NHL player size. This team is more built for playoff hockey than the on a couple years ago, but time will tell if it pays off.

I post a lot more here than the Devils board, just not a fan on dunking on opponents on the main board. Unless of course they're asking for it.
The thing that makes me think they are asking for it is continuously bringing Rempe up to injure others. Glad he didn’t get to play today. Thank you league for saving our defensemen’s heads

They played the Blue Jackets 3 games ago and lost 4-2... How come we didn't see any threads about how 'scary' the Devils look and all these mainboard posts about how great they are at suppressing shots after that loss? Weird.
They crushed the Jackets and a godky Elvis performance is the only reason the Devils didn’t win 7-whatever it ended up being .
People need to give the Devils some credit here. They snapped the Kings winning streak and have dominated their last 10 games or so in convincing fashion .
I’m not saying they are “ scary “ but they are playing very well .
I still think they get owned by the Canes / Panthers /Caps / Lightning in the PO though . Devils need one or two more Noesen type players in their bottom 6 to be able to hang with those teams . Plus any injuries to their D core and they are in trouble. After Nemec , they really don’t have anyone that is realiable to plug into their top 6 rotation.
If the Devils add a couple good , big bodied , fast , aggressive firwards that can get to the centre of the ice against teams like the Panthers , plus a good depth D man , I think they have a decent shot of wining a round or two or three lol.
I’m thinking of someone like Gourde or ? for a forward .

NJ lacks a certain amount of playoff experience with the current group, but the players they have added are helping in the physical play department. They've played well against the top teams in the East so far. Swept Florida in Florida in a back to back and beat Washington twice in Washington and split so far with the Canes. I agree they could use another big strong guy for the bottom six and really need Bastian to be able to shed his face shield by the playoffs but they are well ahead of where they have been in recent years in terms of pushing back when it gets ugly. We will see. There does not appear to be any superteam this season so the playoffs look pretty wide open right now.

Bratt, hughes, mercer, nico all dont even weigh 170. 3 of their top 4 scorers are rail thin

Hockey reference has Nico, Jack and Bratt at 175 and with Dawson at 180.
In sure their heights are dead accurate and not stretched on there either

Jack and Nico absolutely weigh more than 170 lol

anyways who cares? Patrick Kane is one of the best playoff performers of all time and he is a smurf
Have you ever stood next to jack and nico? I have multiple times. They look even skinnier in street clothes

fail till you make it approach.

the devils have finally started to address the softness of the team. more work to do but at least now it seems like management is aware of the issue.

I’m have faith in Fitz that he will add a player or two that will help for a playoff run . I think he knows we need to add a little more bottom 6 depth . Too bad the McLeod situation is what it is . He is exactly what we could use as a 4C . I’m hoping for Gourde or a player like that to be added and I think is needed in order to become a true contender

I am a die hard Devils fan but we need to pump the brakes here . It’s the regular season . Playoffs are a completely different story . I love Jack and Bratt but we need to wait and see how they do come crunch time.

I hate this thread. And I agree with you 100%.

My posting in this thread only started when someone said 4 of our forwards weren't even 170 lbs. Not that its a huge hill for me to die on, but it took me 5 minutes of internet searching.

to somewhat agree with that poster... of the 4 players he mentioned, Jack is the only one who sometimes shows he gets sized out against bigger players. But he's Jack, so you live with that for all the good he does

Keefe is great at getting a lot out of teams in the regular season and great at developing talent to play two way hockey.

He has yet to prove he can outcoach another coach in a playoff series.
The Leafs playoff failures aren't all on the head coach. With that said Berube is the right guy for the Leafs job and were very pleased to have Keefe here.

Plus Bratt is as strong as a brick shithouse! He can win board battles all day long. Oh and this Timo Meier guy. Power forward. We're back to an elite level 2023-24 like team. This time with more beef, more grit, better blueline and goaltending. Good chance we can make some noise but, so can a lot of teams.

Tell me you don’t watch the team. Nico and Bratt especially could not be more off in their weight lmao. Dudes are significantly more stocky than 170. Jack is certainly smaller but this is legit false.
I see jack and nico out in hoboken. Bratt not nearly as often but have stood next to him spring 2023 at 8th street tavern. Hes shorter than hes listed and cannot weigh more than 165
