Have the 'scary' version of the Devils arrived?

Devils have the defense and the star forwards to make a run and Markstrom is good enough in net imo even if he isn’t great. I think they could use an extra scoring forward though.

People in this thread not realizing how dominant the Devils have been this season, especially December. They aren't just winning. They are destroying teams.
its coming off a win against one of the most broken teams in the league who also are on the tail end of a back-to-back games.

winning playoff rounds is how you become a scary team.

They still need to prove it in the playoffs but they are well on their way to becoming a serious annual cup favourite. They have all the right pieces and have time to learn the growing pains of playoff hockey if they falter. Even if they were to wash out in the first round this season, I fully expect them to win at least one Stanley Cup in the next five years as they learn from their failures.

I don't see many other teams within the same window that have the same depth of talent. There are a few bottom tier teams with talent that will rise upwards during their window but those teams will run into the same issue of having to learn how to win in the playoffs. New Jersey should at that same time have already learned some of those lessons and beat them. If they don't get at least one cup I would be surprised and consider it a huge failure and that is more than I would say for most teams.

Literally any level of depth scoring I think this is the best team in the league right now. I do think in a series against an elite defensive team they could key in on the stars hard knowing there's nothing coming after them. The team has ONE hole but it's a very exploitable one

They are outshooting their opponents 215-112 in the last seven games.

With that logic, the Rangers and Stars are scary as they won 2 playoff series last year.

Difference is Oiler fans know what Skinner is.

And Markstrom becomes Skinner when he faces the Oilers.
We will see what happens later in the year. Markstrom isn't really a top 5 goalie but he has been an upgrade for the Devils in goal. That's really what they needed. He doesn't have much plahoff experience but his playoff numbers of a .911 Sv% and a 2.90 GAA aren't terrible.

Top 5 team in the league. I think Keefe - who still has to redeem himself after Toronto - is the main reason people aren't all in on them.

They have given up 20 or less shots in a record 7 straight games. Did they play the lowly Rags the last 7 games?

They played the Blue Jackets 3 games ago and lost 4-2... How come we didn't see any threads about how 'scary' the Devils look and all these mainboard posts about how great they are at suppressing shots after that loss? Weird.

Markstrom's "fine" but I would really ask Flames fans how he performed in that 2022 playoffs.

I don't think the Devils get through the Cats.

Not the flex you think

Do yourself a favor and watch a replay of that game and get back to me. Literally one of their most dominant performances. Not one devil fan who watched that game left unhappy.

This isn’t the NFL. Its hockey. The best team that absolutely dominates doesn’t always win.

Next.

They dominated Columbus that game. Merzlikins was the difference maker and the Devils still almost cmsbe back to tie that game.

No Devils fans on our thread really care for these posts on the main thread. We know the team is good and playing great hockey but we aren't getting too far ahead of ourselves. Playoffs are a different animal and there are plenty of good teams that can win it.
