I can't help but pop into "how awful is Laine"thread on the main board.Leaf fans use to tick me off but now this is becoming pretty amusing.Seriously 34 pages of mostly Leaf fans raging on him.Its like one of the colonies got uppity and now they are right pissed off and can't get over it.

Speaking of which, Laine is a -13 for the season--far, far worse than anyone else on the Jets, a team that has a +39 goal differential.

+/- is of limited value when the most active players on a losing team are in the minus column. But when the team is outscoring consistently and your best players reflect the trend, a negative outlier on a scoring line tells a story.

OK, calm down.

It's impressive to be in nearly all the wrong places in a game where your team kills the opposition. That is literally all.

Someone - thinking Jan Hejda - once managed to put up a -3 in a 9-3 win. That's even better, if you ask me.

That still makes me laugh! Watching Myers play last night I still do not get the hate for him. Criticism, yes. Concern for next contract, sure. BUT he showed again last night that he brings a lot of dynamic play and skill to the table.

If we get a good top 4 guy to play with Buff in the playoffs and go with Kuli and Myers on the 3rd pair we are going to have a really strong D corps.

For me the only question mark is whether Helle can find his level of play from last year? That's the final (and maybe most important) piece. Teams have won the cup with average goaltending but more often than not it's a guy who's en fuego that propels a team to the Championship.

Unfortunately I think that is what you get with Myers - and it's why he's such a polarizing player on here. When he's bad, he's slow, sluggish, his reads aren't good. When he's on, he's got his head up, he has really nice mitts and a effortless, long skating stride. He protects the puck when rushing it surprisingly well. I'd love to see Patrik Laine learn a thing or two about carrying the puck from Condor.

You are so right about Laine , never really thought about comparing the two of them before . I think one big difference is when Myers is carrying the puck he has his head up , Laine stares at the puck a bit too much . I really wanted Myers to score on that great end to end rush he had last night , just a beauty rush there by Myers .

Those games are nice to have every once in a while. It's good to be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the game instead of being tense for the entire 60 minutes.

Can confirm that the beer lineups after the first period were the longest I've ever seen at BMTSP.

I'm guessing Chipper's "save something for the playoffs" team directive will be changed to "take a commanding lead in the first period" for all home games going forward...
