This has been a legendary off season for Benning.

- Dumped Eriksson, Roussel, Beagle
- Acquired OEL, Garland, and Dickinson. A top pairing defenceman, a top 6 forward with PPG upside, and one of the best defensive centers in the league.
- Built an AHL all star roster in 1 Day
- Bought out Holtby and Virtanen
- Loaded up on RD depth on low cap hit contracts
- Signed Halak who had the best back up numbers
- went from a cap strapped team to cap flexibility. Canucks will have over 3 million in space when Pettersson/Hughes/Dickinson sign to allocate for our RFAs next season while still icing a competitive team.

All of this in 10 days.

If Canucks make it far next season in the playoffs, he will be GM of the year.

Lol your bias is showing. Canucks have just under 20 million in cap space/LTIR to sign three players to fill out their roster. I wouldn't expect you to look at thebcap structure and deduce what the final roster will be when moving the AHL players to Abbotsford.

Fair, but they have a 22 man roster now with 14 mill in cap space, even sending 3 to the minors will make about 2 mill or 16 mill in total space.

What do you expect EP and Hughes to sign for?

Im also really not a fan of the D Benning put together.

I love how Benning gets praise for
dealing with his prior mistakes.

If OEL can bounce back to half the player he used to be i'd say it was worth it for the Garland deal + signing.

If you think this year looks good for the cap, wait until next year

Next Season, Canucks can sign their 3 players and can go into next season with 3 million in cap space/LTIR

2021-png.457666

Then in 2022-2023

Canucks will have approximately $16,336,666 in cap space/LTIR to sign Boeser, Motte, Rathbone, 4C, and a back-up goalie. The back up goalie will likely end up being Dipietro at under 1 million. This cap space is also without any cap increase which is also expected next season.

Sign Boeser at term for 7 million
Sign Motte at term for 2 million
Rathbone bridge contract for 2 million
DiPietro as back up for 900K
4C at 1.1 million
Leftover: 3.3 million

If there is a possibility that Parayako makes it to free agency, I would sign him and trade Hamonic. This is what cap flexibility feels like. Canucks don't have to worry about losing their core for a long time.

Took on one of the worst contracts in the league and assembled one of the worst d cores in the league. Also is depleting the prospect pool and going into drafts with 1 pick in the top 90. What could go wrong?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Brock's QA is $7.5 mil correct? That is his salary in the last year of his deal.

damn that right side has two guys that jets let walk for free and 1 that wanted to sign here that we didn't want even with how bad our d was last year that 100% needs to be upgraded if you want to compete

Exactly. The defense is still dogs***, but just a year older. And they have no money to improve the team otherwise.

Then the season after, they need to re-up Horvat, Miller and Hoglander. And will still have OEL, Myers, and Poolman on the books. Lmao, good luck Canucks.

Apparently nothing according to BenningBros. This is a championship calibre roster.

do you really have no ability to project or even do the simple math? You should calculate how much space Canucks have in 2 years, I understand laggards still think Canucks have cap problems but that narrative is entirely dead now and you just need to educate yourself on it.

Do you? You're the one claiming they have no cap problem! Here's a 2022-23 projection

Miller (UFA) - Petterson ($7.5) - Boeser ($7.5)
Hoglander (RFA) - Horvat (UFA) - Garland ($5)
Pearson ($3.25 - Dickinson ($3.25) - Podkolzin ($0.925
Motte ($1.75) - Center - Winger
Extra

OEL ($7.2) - Defenseman
Hughes ($6) - Myers ($6)
Rathbone ($2) - Poolman ($2.5)
Extra

Demko ($5)
DP ($1)

That's $58.9M with Hoglander, Horvat, and Miller needing replacements. Plus some kind of top-four RD and filling the rest of the roster out.

Maybe we assume $7M for Miller, $6.5 for Horvat, and $2.5 for Hoglander. Now we're at $74.9M out of likely a flat cap. Once you add in some kind of quality defenseman, there's just enough room to fill in the rest of the roster. The team as it stands is not a contender. And there's no cap flexibility for improvement. Sure, they can retain what there is. Is that good enough? Especially with OEL, Myers, and Poolman as key cogs of the blueline?
