Played Tkachuk in two games where he was obviously injured and couldn't play, had the players obviously not listen to him while they went out and fought after his speech in the pregame about controlling their emotions, put in and then sat Kreider like he was just called up from Wilkes-Barre... Didn't play Connor.... I don't know what else I was focusing on the Canadian team more.

I was a little hockey nerd and starting posting on HFboards in '05? I think. I would have been 15-16 then.

The main reason for my reply is to ask if anyone remembers where people used to post before? When I was in grade 9 or so, I used to post on somewhere that was like msgboards.pittsburghpenguins.com or something, but cant remember the place for the life of me?

The old Pens site had an Official Message Board and I believe a fair number of folks here started there. This would have been mid 2000's as you say.

Well that was my concern had USA won- he'd get a renewed "mystique" and FSG would reward him with another contract. Would be funny if he's not the HC for next year at the Olympics

The old Pens site had an Official Message Board and I believe a fair number of folks here started there. This would have been mid 2000's as you say.

That's where I started. Ahhhhh the good ol days. It was kinda cool because they did start threads where you could ask a question and they would ask the players. This was circa 2005-7. I remember asking a few basic questions that got answered. I know TK answered one. I also remember Lange and Borquey answering mine "when was the last time a team's highest paid player was a healthy scratch" in reference to Gonchar who was vomit bad to start of 05-06.

I only found this place because Greg Wyshynski used to have a segment in his column called "Perfect HF Boards Trade Proposal of the Week".

If I recall correctly, this place is much more straight on actual hockey discussion. There was defnintely some hockey talk over there but there was significantly more shenanigans as well. Also, it was the pre-crosby x gen years so why the hell would we WANT to talk about hockey. There's only so much Drake Berehowsky pumping one can do.

For example I remember the music threads back then having a significant impact on my taste to this day.

I would say it was much more of a "casual fan" board. Reddit was that way for awhile but I've noticed that they are starting to pick up some actual hockey minds.
