I don't have a specific guess, but I think 100+ is reasonable guess if scoring remains similar. 9 players hit that last year.

Well, he led his team by 7pts last year, while playing 7 less games than the next highest player, while being an 18yo.

Maybe he doesn't ever hit 120pts in a season. But he's done plenty to make people think he can hit that.

That's not really that impressive, lots of rookies have led their team in scoring. Even Tavares did and never hit 90 points. Isn't it expected to lead a bad team in scoring if you're supposed to be the best player in a draft class? Crosby, for reference, led his team in scoring by 44 points as an 18 year old and only hit 120 points once in his career.

Why on earth would anyone think that's reasonable? Yeah, the blackhawks are bad, but Bedard as a 70 point player wouldn't magically be a 120 point player on a better team, which is what he'd need to be in order to be worth anywhere near 15M.

The guy on the right mentioned Bedard deserves a "MAX" deal... a "Max deal" is an NBA term and it is expected to be given to a homegrown superstar.

I think 9.8 mil /year for the next 8 years would make sense for a guy who had the "Generational" talent tag.

Paying 15 mil for Bedard does certainly not sound like a discount lol... even if the cap goes up 3 mils every year for the next 8 years which it wont.

If the Hawks were to be, at worst, a playoff bubble team in a few years time, his numbers will almost assuredly improve just because the roster will be noticeably better than the 31st best team in the league. At that point, it's not outside the realm of possibility that he could flirt with 120pts.

What you’re not making a lick of sense. So Celebrini doesn’t lead his team in points. If he didn’t by season end, is he bust or something? If the Hawks had a guy that got 75 points and were still worst team but like 27th in goals scored, would that make Bedard bust?

It's a very strange phenomenon in this thread where you compare Bedard to players you're arguing are worse than him and saying look he's almost as good as them.

If Bedard has the same career as Celebrini, most of this thread would be disappointed. If he has a worse career, probably everyone in Chicago would be disappointed.

Bedard has potential, no one is doubting that, but he hasn't earned the praises he's getting. People are getting too wrapped up in his pre-draft hype versus his current day production. Sure, he could pull a MacKinnon and completely turn it around - but that's very rare - no one expected MacKinnon to turn it around the way he did, including MacKinnon himself, otherwise he'd never sign that 7 years 6.3M contract.

Here's some context. When comparing Bedard to the league's top players, compare his stats to theirs at the same age.

You're comparing him to Celebrini and expecting Crosby like results. Crosby led his team by 50 points as a rookie. Both Crosby & McDavid won the Art Ross in their second year.

His second season is admittedly weaker, the team is still awful, Ovi is playing slightly worse than his first sseason + he gets Semin on the team, so the gap becomes smaller, however he still is 4th in league in goals and 9th in points, and still outscores everyone on his team not named Semin by a large margin, and Semin by a smaller one.

So far he doesn't seem to live up to the hype, which is not his fault, I guess, as he himself never said that he was better than any of those guys.

We'll see. Ovechkin started the league older because of the lockout and was built like a tank. Bedard is slight of frame on a brutal team with no sheltering. The Hawks have done little to help him.

He was never touted as "the best player ever". He was never touted as better than Crosby. And I don't think McDavid was touted, at the time of his draft, as being better than Crosby.
