I mean the jitterbug Newell has been the biggest contributor behind Brodzinski. Rueschhoff has been quite noticeable as well. Barron has been solid, Khodorenko has shown flashes. Richards looked good his first game and looked decent early today before I fell asleep. Cuylle has been surprisingly active, as well.

I wouldn't say any of Barron, Khodorenko, or Richards have been the best forward down there.

Agreed re: Newell and Brodzinski. I think Barron has done equally as well as Rueschoff if not better in more recent games.

But, i think ultimately no one is really dominating where they are the obvious call up.

Providence goes up two. No chance for Huska. Two Hartford defenders behind the net, both lost the puck, easy 2-on-0 at the front of the net leads to the goal.

The decision around Barron makes sense because he isn't ready and his performance bonuses affect the cap situation. Barron isn't really dominating. Among forwards, he'd probably be my 3rd choice to call up right now behind Khodorenko and Richards.

But Reunanen was one of the last cuts in 2019, then developed 18 months in Finland and is now dominating the AHL.
Don’t get me wrong, I am fine with Reunanen getting a shot right now. I am just stating what I believe is managements preference to let him marinate a bit more. I firmly believe that he will get a shot this year. Which will make next camp even more fascinating.

For whatever reason, the last few games just not able to get any consistent forecheck and cycling. There's like two shifts a period where they spend time in the offensive zone with possession. The rest is just pinball.

Bruins just really stifling the Pack. Games are a little uneventful. Hard to say what it is, but the Pack just could not make a clean break out pass all game. Just these horrible stretch passes that lead to a change of possession most of the time.

I'll say re: Reunanen, I really like his game, and he's clearly a very good player at this level. That said, it's not like he's just dominating shift after shift. He contributes every game but he's not out there taking over. So, while I do think he deserves a look in the near future, it's not like he's getting bored clowning guys for 25+ minutes each night, he's still getting good reps and developing. None of this is a waste for him.

3 L in a row, sub .500. Thought they'd rip Providence a new one the way they played the first 10-12 mins. Another dud.

Oh yeah, what's going on with the vets on this team... Greco, Thompson, Gettinger, etc. ... agains, duds.

Agreed. I don't know if its the result of the P Bruins being a big team or something, but you can see Reunanen has to learn how to muscle through some heavier contact with less space. It really doesn't help that the Pack breakout structure looks really bad right now. There are hardly any 3 foot passes going on. It's very reminiscent of previous years of Rangers games. And it's making the D, who are a pretty mediocre bunch, look very mediocre. They need to send Martin down to the A and teach Knoblauch the system. Bruins just seem to have more puck support and structure and it's suffocating the Pack. And anyway, these things are making Reunanen less effective out there. Everytime he gets the puck in the D zone the forwards are flying the zone and he's making these really long passes. There's no one like 3 feet away ever.

The one positive is that Reunanen a smaller D is seeing more contact and bigger bodies and having to learn to cope. I think he would look better up with the Rangers because he'd have more support.

Yeah when you have guys like Ronning who just want to go streaking towards the offensive blue line waiting for the home run pass every time, it makes it hard to effectively move the puck.

We're just five games into a rookie season that was delayed for several months and then had only one pre season game. I've seen enough flashes from Barron, Richards, Khodorenko, Reuschhoff and Cuylle to be intrigued. No one forward is dominating. But that probably wasn't a realistic expectation. I am more concerned about how they are playing in games 20-24 than these first five games.

Agreed. I'm not worried in the least. I just don't think they should be calling up anyone right now. If anything, I just wish there were more games for these kids to play to help them develop.

The other upside today was seeing Richards win a lot of draws. I hope he develops. He's def on the small side.

Fontaine, injured again. Thompson and Greco are not playing very well for AHL vets. Forget about Gettinger as an NHL prospect. Not quick enough and doesn't use his body. Elmer can't even brake into the lineup. Your exactly right. Not much from the vets other than Brodzinski and Newell.

Yeah Thompson and Greco are vying for the Bobby Butler Award for most worthless veteran signing.

Greco is fast. That's where his skillset begins and ends. Thompson is totally invisible. Every game I have a moment where i have to remind myself the name of the guy who wears 15. That's how useless he is.

The good news is - between the Rangers getting healthier soon and with some of the Euro prospects potentially coming over after their seasons are over, there is a decent chance that HFD will be getting some pretty good reinforcements soon and also down the road.

Not having Brodzinski rn or a healthy Fontaine surely doesn't help.

Good question. Cuylle, Ronning, Dmoski, and Elmer are forward scratches. Unclear if healthy or injured. If Crawford announces anything I will let you know. Garand makes his first pro start.

Wait why is Geertson playing forward today

Crawford announced the scratches without indicating any injuries.

Greco on a 2-year NHL contract..
Greco, Rooney, Blackwell, Brodzinski, DiGiusseppe all '93's, all currently 27
i guess they played the odds, and not too badly - 2 NHL regulars, 2 NHL depth guys and an a vet in AHL ...

scratching all those F's is odd, hope we get some 'splaining
I believe Elmer is only roster guy w no GP yet
2 lines full of guys recently in college (Newell the grizzled 2nd year pro...)
Fontaine back is good news

Pack lead 2-1 after 1. Garand gives up early goal on unscreened shot from top of the circle. But Garand came on strong and made several key saves including a shorthanded breakaway. On power play Geco at point passes down low to Gettinger who passes across the goal mouth to Barron who buries it. Nice pass by Gettinger. Later in period puck bounces out to Guittari who hits the post and then gets the rebounds and buries it. Goal unassisted. Bruins outshoot Pack 11-7.

No reason given for scratches. Huska is backup goalie.
