Braden and Barron were long gone and the Pack was still playing well. Bitetto was not very good. I think Brodzinski was the key loss and showed how valuable he was to the team. Without him there are very few playmakers left.Just can't win without the Killer B's - Braden, Brodz, Barron (and Bitetto)
The nightmare is not over. Bridgeport lost last night leaving them 3 points ahead of the Pack. Bridgeport has 2 left with the Pack having 3 left. So it won't be over until Friday at the earliest. And if the Pack win Friday and Bridgeport loses we have a Bridgeport-Pack showdown Saturday night.
During the losing streak there were some ugly loses. But the last six games or so every game has been close. ...
perhaps I don’t understand waiver rules post trade deadline very well but my thoughts on why Brodzinski and McKegg didn’t go to Hartford is the Rangers look at them as playoff depth and didn’t want to risk losing them on waivers.I think the bigger issue is that once NYR acquired the players they did at the deadline they weren't forced to send down the McKeggs, Brodz etc so that killed their AHL depth. Would've been nice if they signed some players to AHL contracts to help fill in the gaps. Esp when there's not much prospect depth down there except Paj who still seems to not be getting reg ice time.
its not just waivers but AHL roster/playoff/eligibility rules, it was touched on here around TDL -perhaps I don’t understand waiver rules post trade deadline very well but my thoughts on why Brodzinski and McKegg didn’t go to Hartford is the Rangers look at them as playoff depth and didn’t want to risk losing them on waivers.
Here is the waiver rule (from Cap Friendly) that would have applied to Brodzinski:its not just waivers but AHL roster/playoff/eligibility rules, it was touched on here around TDL -
some of us expected Brodzinski and maybe Schneider to be "paper demoted" to Pack on TDL day to be AHL playoff eligible by being on the roster that day
I wasn't tracking closely to see if Brodz, at that time, was within the thresholds to be sent down without new waivers
McKegg would have needed waivers, and very very likely claimed, since rosters expanded after TDL, such as by any of his 6 former teams (all the Conference & playoff rivals except Caps...)
i did expect more AHL level NCAA signings than just (Easton)Brodzinski
the bottom hadn't fallen out, yet, for the Pack then,
and there was an anticipated platoon of draftees who could trickle in - signed guys like Henricksson, Othmann, Cuylle, Rempe, Garand as well as ATO eligible guys like Vierling, Korczak, Grubbe and Boyko
Is it any limit on the number of players they can call up for the rest of the season (except to be under the cap)? Some days on NHL salary would be a nice bonus for a lot of players.Would be cool to see Jones get some games with the big club next week, maybe reward some others with a game or two as well for a long season in Hartford, and some NHL salary days.

Guess we will see atleast Pajuniemi, Gettinger and Greco in the Black Aces when PO's begin. No idea how much the org care about finnishing first in the division, but we could see some new faces the last games. Both to give them a look and as a reward.I think they have all 4 post deadline regular season call ups still left to use since they really didn’t need anyone with the amount of healthy scratches we have to begin with.
Once the NHL regular season is over, you can call up as many as you want for your taxi squad.
I imagine both Huska and Kinkaid will be coming up just to stay ready, then maybe Jones, Tinordi, Robertson, Nils if his injury isn’t bad?
Then a few forwards as well?
My guess at F's recalled is Greco, Getts, Merkley(40 NHL games, 15 points across last 4 seasons) and maybe Richards.Guess we will see atleast Pajuniemi, Gettinger and Greco in the Black Aces when PO's begin....
