Always have a soft spot for Mara. He was floundering and came here in a change of scenery trade with Aaron Ward who didn't want to be here and was a jerk.

Mara played really well during the 2006-07 stretch run, and had some good years here before ending his career in Anaheim I believe.
Yes. He wasn’t around long but I remember being pretty positive about him. Think he was a guy who was willing to stick up for his teammates. I always have a soft spot for players like that. Rupp, Barnaby, McQuaid also come to mind.

Big shot and was willing to stick up for teammates. He got in a fight with Asham at one point and dislocated his shoulder. Asham recognized it and immediately stopped the fight. Mara I recall praises him in the media after the game.

First one to stick up for Betts after Brashear delivering a dirty hit

Didn’t Ward mouth off to Jagr or something like that? I remember there being friction between them I’m pretty sure

Yes

Yup, that's exactly what happened.

Ward also was pretty terrible on the ice and phoned it in.

This is the perfect example of what you want in an organization. For his "reputation/attitude issues" or whatever, he's a PITA on the ice, but off the ice, does things like this.

Yes

Jagr: "During the game there are a lot of situations. He wasn't happy, probably with the way I was talking to him. Should I write an e-mail? No."

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

saw a tweet that he had blocked a shot in OT last game
What I saw was he was standing in front of the opposing team’s net and he got hit with the puck and then he was cross-checked from behind. He fell to the ice bent over for a minute then got up and immediately went to the locker room. Did not return.
