Did anyone think that Tinordi would be claimed last year? Both of them seem to me to be pretty similar. It's a crap shoot for some of these guys.
Exactly. And not only was Tinordi claimed, he played a lot and was even given a new contract at $1.25M. Teams value veteran players who are cheap and in theory bring leadership and some grit, especially those who you know you can sit for several games and they won't complain.

I know most people don't care if Harpur is claimed, and that's fair, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he'd go unclaimed. I think he fits a profile that would interest several teams, particularly in this cap crunch world.

Skyline Chili?
I did get in when I was there. Fun. I was very impressed by the downtown area where the Reds play (I went to a game) with the big public park and restaurants along with the bridge that crosses over into Kentucky.

The Cyclones arena definitely screams 1970s and is right next to the Great American Ballpark.

Funny show from the clips I've seen. A little bit before my time and I don't remember it on Nick At Night in the 80s-early 90s (perhaps another network had the rights?)?

It's nice to see the Rangers invite a kid to development camp and then actually sign him to a contract (albeit an AHL contract). The Rangers have probably seen quite a lot of him. It doesn't look he played much with Othmann at Peterborough, but they were both on Flint together the year before that.

It's still an extreme long shot that he develops into something, but maybe he and Othmann will click in Hartford.

Edit: Here's an article about Panwar:

I was gonna say, I remember Vaive. He was pretty decent in Hartford.

well here's a reminder to not trust every post you read ...

this guy, former Wisco mate of Emberson/K'Andre
was reported to be joining the Pack

interesting conflicting sources re status of Turner Elson

Our (fans here, Pack/Pipeline followers) understanding had been that he was still signed, by NYR, for coming '23-24 season (as well as last season)

That is what is reported at Capfriendly
LENGTH: 2 YEARS SIGNING DATE: Jul. 14, 2022

so i was surprised Eliteprospects listed his contract as completed
Contract 22/23

then i opened the source article EP cites for his joining NYR System

"...Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with ... Turner Elson ... on one-year contracts..."

curious
I do usually trust Cap Friendly,
but they do sometimes have errors which they verify and correct pretty quickly whne they happen ...

UPDATE: i emailed CapFriendly and they replied promptly:
" The press release was mistaken and Turner Elson still has 1 year remaining on a 2 year contract" with the Rangers

Hadn't seen anyone mention this yet. Hasn’t done much in his pro career, but Peca probably convinced Martin/Drury to give him a shot

He hasn’t done much because he’s injured both shoulders (right one twice) and had surgery on both. Us Sabres fans had high hopes for him, but the surgeries took a lot of wind out of those sails. He’s extremely reminiscent of Marchand, but can win a faceoff. He’ll probably be sent back to Cincy, but Hartford fans are gonna love him if he plays there. He was a fan favourite going back to his OHL days

Hadn’t realized he was free from Buffalo.
Early pro there was hopes for him like many have for Berard, a middle 6 irritant

he kinda found his game, after some tough seasons of not meeting expectations, last season with Cincinnati, NYR/Pack ECHL affiliate
He’s just 23.
I like this, no downside
