A lot of these picks have the piss and vinegar. That's what Drury looks for. Othmann isn't a choir boy. That's good.

They can be wonderful people and do lots of charity and community work off the ice. During games, play like a douche and hate to lose.

Why cant the Rangers get players like that on the Rangers in the NHL? One reason I wanted Bertuzzi and Barbashev over Kane and although Tarasenko is good, a different element was needed here for the playoffs that Rangers lack on the NHL roster. Great mistake by Drury.

I believe that's Drury's ultimate plan to morph the team into that. Look at like the 2008-09 team from when Torts first took over to the 2011-12 version.

Garand has run with the opportunity to be the man in goal. After an up and down regular season this is a step forward. I still think he probably goes back to Hartford to begin next year but he might be closer than I thought

I've listened to a couple of playoff games on Hartford's radio channel and both Sykora and Edstrom are doing fine. Sykora is a play who buzzes around the ice. Edstrom's got the frame. He's not knocking players down all the time but he goes into the dirty areas and he's strong as f***. They've been playing him a bit with Gettinger and with all that size that's a hard line to handle. Gettinger had two assists and a fight last night.

The +/- numbers for some of the players for 4 games is just ridiculous. Blidh +9, Emberson +8, Hillman, Pajuniemi, Fritz all +7's, Gettinger and Kalynuk +6, Jones +5.

I figured Edstrom would be able to make an immediate impact. He's been playing in the SHL anywhere from the fourth to the first line for over four years now. The AHL, he should be able to handle it, particularly given the way he plays. I'm glad he's getting this opportunity because it will help him next season, where I have him as a real dark horse to make the roster.

Sykora is good to see. I'm still not sure the AHL is what's best for next year as I'd really like for him to be able to focus on offensive development. But, if the Rangers/Pack are committed to giving him top six ice time next season I'd be more okay with it.

I'd love to be able to keep Tim Gettinger who is a useful AHL player. He's not a play driver but when you pair him with guys whose games he can complement, he can be really effective. He's an impending UFA, though, and strikes me as the type who will sign somewhere else, where he thinks he'll have more of a chance to earn a roster spot--or even go to Europe where he could be really good. He has a lot of former teammates who are in Europe.

There are guys I don't mind keeping around because they're good organization guys and Gettinger is a guy like that. Not sure if he signs somewhere else he'll get a real NHL opportunity but I could see him wanting to leave just to see. It's kind of like Vinni Lettieri or Brodzinski in a way.....very good AHL guys who struggle to make an impact whenever they're called up.

I think from just the games at the end of the year and the playoffs now that Sykora can play at this level. Partly why is his aggressiveness all over the ice even despite the fact that he could use a good 10 lbs. more. He's a real pest even if he isn't taking penalties or knocking over players but he has a non stop motor and there is nothing at all shy about his play.

I also think Edstrom has a shot at making the Rangers next year. I don't see him as a top 6 player ever and maybe not even a top 9 though. Don't expect a lot of scoring but there are roles that he can fill.

I always wished Gettinger would be an NHL player. Always had hopes for him.

Gettinger will be an interesting situation.
This was only season, in last 5, that he didn't get some games with NYR,
but he was out injured for 8 weeks mid-season.

Your comment on Sykora is exactly right. He needs to be in a place where he can focus on his offensive development. I'm skeptical that will be Hartford next year. First, there will be lots of young forwards on the team next year. They all can't get that quality time. I really don't understand and like what the Pack did with Trivigno this year. Second, this coaching staff, which probably have saved their jobs with this run, has consistently overplayed veterans over the last four years I have been watching. I'm concerned that he will see a lot of fourth line time if he's in Hartford.

I'm also doubtful about the SHL. Those teams are trying to win and don't put the priority on development.

My initial thought is the WHL potentially would be the best place for him to develop his offense.

I'm neutral on Gettinger. My bigger concern is that they don't bring in too many vets so that the kids don't get the time they need. Brodzinski, Elson and Leschyshen already are signed for next year and Fritz should be resigned.

Sykora is still slight. Can't force him to bro up in one summer. Keep him in Europe another year or two and as @Ranger Ric said, work on his offense and while he gains man strength. He can come in and literally slot into a roster spot in 2025 when he's just turning 21.

My main concerns with Sykora playing in the AHL next year were his need to get stronger and his age. If he starts with Hartford next year he'll turn 19 early in the year. He was just about the youngest guy in his draft class. If he stays in the Czech league next year his offensive numbers should improve. He'll probably be a permanent fixture in Nitra's top 6. He won't be if he plays in the the AHL but even if he played in Lliga or the SHL he might not be a top 6 player for whatever team he plays with there either.

Unless we drop him into the CHL his offense is going to come as it comes because he's not going to be playing against kids he's going to be playing against pros. I don't think it hurt Cuylle to play that partial covid lockdown year in the AHL but he sure didn't score a lot that year. I think sometimes we worry about production stats too much. Quality of competition can mean something too. I'm encouraged so far about what Sykora is doing in Hartford right now.

I'll take Tarasenko over Bertuzzi and Barbashev in the playoffs.

Easily.

The four black aces are coming back. While it’s tough to make changes when the team is playing so well it’s hard to imagine these guys not getting back in. Boyko, hillman, Sikora and probably Edstrom likely come out. Maybe henriksson instead of Edstrom. Do the coaches go back to Domingue? I would give garand another game to see if he can close out the series.

Great so they can bring that losing mentality to the Wolfpack. No thanks
