No last minute comeback tonight. Pack lose 4-0. Garand in goal stopped 25 of 29. Pack with only 21 shots of goal.

On defense Kalynuk a healthy scratch with Hillman replacing him. Robertson described as out week to week.

Up front, the Brett Berard experience lasted one game as he and Rempe are healthy scratches being replaced by Trivigno and Blidh. Trivigno on fourth line with Henriksson centering and Elson on the left. That line not on for any of the Springfield goals.

Lehigh Valley wins moving five points ahead of the Pack for fifth. Bridgeport didn't play so it remains 3 points ahead of the Pack with both having the same number of games left.

The team still has a chance to limp into the final playoff spot but time is running out.

With Cornell an St. Cloud eliminated today there are a couple of possible free agents the Rangers might pursue, particularly Cornell right defenseman, Sam Malinski, who attended the Rangers' development camp last summer.

Berard has a long way to go. I'm not in any way writing him off or saying I'm disappointed but it's humble pie for him to see how hard the next level is.

He'll have four+ months to work his ass off and get ready for Development Camp and also the rookie games the Rangers and Flyers usually play (or maybe hopefully back to Traverse City one of these years?) before main camp.

He's behind Cullye, Edstrom, and Othmann. Plenty of time for him to develop.

Why was Berard scratched yesterday? After one game they had enough?
my opinion - why not?
he just got here, just turned pro, got a lot to learn, they're in a pennant race
besides, AHL teams very often swap more guys into lineup during 3-in-3 weekends

i love the kids,
and am glad they may have all of Berard, Sykora, prob BMB and Edstrom, in town within days
but no urgency or rationale to dress them daily, just cuz they're there,
especially while contending,
practice hard, be ready for opportunities as they arise

That was fast. Jones scored at 16sec of the first period. Hartford 1-0 in Wilkes Barre-Scranton.
Edit: Lockwood with an identical goal to Jones . 2-0 Hartford with just under 13 minutes to go in the 1st.

WB turns puck over at center ice. Jones jumps on it, skates into the WB zone and takes a 40 foot shot that somehow the goalie missed. Would love to say it was a great play by Jones but goalie is going to want that one back.

Carpenter and Lockwood break in 2-1 with Carpenter getting the puck to Lockwood who comes in alone and scores.

Pack up 4-0 after 2nd
But beware, just on Friday, a 4-goal 3-goal 3rd-period lead vanished in a Pack game

Corrected my post, Friday Pack overcame a 3 goal 3rd per lead, but team that scored 5 consecutive goals lost, to a 4 straight goals rally

With tonight's victory the Pack are one point behind Bridgeport although Bridgeport has a game in hand. Fifth place Lehigh Valley won in OT and remain five points ahead of the Pack. Both the Pack and Lehigh Valley have 8 games to play.

Of the eight games, five are at home and three are on the road. The Pack plays first place Providence twice, fourth place Springfield in the last game, fifth place Lehigh Valley once, sixth place Bridgeport twice including this Wednesday, last place Wilkes-Barre once and North Division first place team Toronto Marlies once. So three out of the eight are against division leading teams.

It varies by division because each division has a different amount of teams (for travel purposes, I assume). The Atlantic division will have 6 teams make the playoffs.
Yes Atlantic has six teams with bottom four playing each other in a play in type situation.
