Brooks made a good point the other day. Players have to be on the AHL roster (at least on paper) as of the trade deadline in order to be eligible for the AHL playoffs. NHL teams only get 4 callups after the trade deadline. So if we send guys down so they'll be eligible, and then bring them back up, we will use up our callups.

It would be nice if we could add a couple forwards for the playoffs, but it probably won't happen.
Yeah I read that in his article yesterday. It wasn't something I had considered but is a great point.

I think he said of we sent down Kakko, Chytil, Lindgren, and Shesterkin (or something like that) to make them eligible for the AHL playoffs, then called them right back up, then we'd be out of guys to call up and couldn't bring up Kravtsov (or Rykov or whoever).

You can still do emergency callups beyond the four. I wouldn't worry about it, but I have little interest in seeing Chytil down for the AHL playoffs anyways.

I'd send down Kakko and Shesterkin for sure. Maybe Lindgren, I don't know. Save one or two spots.

Pack maybe getting routed in Charlotte again, 3-0 after 1st

This wouldn’t apply to a guy like DiGiuseppe, would it? It would be a shame to make it tougher for the parent club to give a cup of coffee to guys who’ve spent - essentially - the whole season in the AHL. Would hope this only applies to guys like Chytil who’d be sort of...ringers...for the AHL team.
Somehow I sense I’m gonna be disappointed.

Yeah I believe it applies to all players.

Kakko and Shesty for the playoffs please. I feel like Chytil and Lindgren have graduated. Howden could use the experience as well. Maybe save one of the callups.

That’s poor. I can appreciate the league wanting to keep teams from sending down ringers or otherwise abusing the system. But they shouldn’t discourage teams from giving organization lifers/good soldiers cups of coffee during the home stretch.
I can also see not wanting an NHL team dressing a whole AHL-level squad but I’m sure there’s a way to word the rule to keep everyone honest.

It applies to everyone, but it's hard to say what the NHL team is going to look like after the trade deadline. Kreider will almost certainly be gone. Fast may be gone. How many bodies are we bringing back? We might need a guy like PDG to fill a spot the rest of the way. He might be the guy who is sent down so that he is eligible and then immediately recalled.

Hey.. uhh.. are there any teams that would actually be able to win 4 games against Igor in an AHL playoff scenario .. ?

I'm SO going ..

Kakko isn't going down...he played in the mens WC last year so why would anyone assume he wouldn't again...

Igor is a maybe if he doesn't have a shot at playing for russia...but I don't see it happening. they could be sending him back in between starts to get more games, but the team seems to think that he is done with the ahl

fox will play for team usa with drury in charge again...i don't see them sending down chytil and howden. maybe lindgren goes down but as much as I'd like to see guys get sent down to setup a calder cup run i'm not seeing it happen

Igor will definitely go back down for a long playoff run. Kakko and Fox no.

Same thoughts. Most of our prospects graduated AHL and or should have international commitments.

Jebus. Ryan Gropp's hands make Michael Haley's look like Mario Lemieux's... How many clean and unchallenged breakaways do you need to put one it? Urghhh

Also, Rykov >>>>>>>>>>> Hajek. In absolute all aspects.

Pack fans watching road games and games vs. Charlotte in Charlotte. Un-f-real.

Beyond all that, I don’t think that’s the Rangers MO. They don’t seem to like manufacturing results. They’ve been “let the chips fall where they may”. The only way they would send down a player for an AHL playoff run is if they think it would help the player development-wise.
