So, Fontaine is done for the year. Hartford has now lost Kravtov, Chytil, Nieves, Fontaine and Lindgren from the beginning of the season. Really testing the depth of the team.

Andersson is going to get lots of time on the ice with the man power they've lost. So will Gettinger and Ronning. If they don't step up, it's probably going to start going south due to lack of scoring options.

That sucks. Kind of doubt they qualify Fontaine. He was iffy before. Now it's unlikely.

They might have to find someone in Europe to come over and take some shifts as they're getting thin.

Just assuming that Gropp gets called up.

Now he just needs to hold on to the chance with both hands and get to the net.
After his little stunt he pulled when he was sent to the ECHL, I have a hard time believing they will be so quick so call him back to the AHL.

FWIW Hartford roster is listing McBride as a C,
the only F's listed as C's are him, Lias, Fogarty and Jones.
I haven't seen games, so cannot comment who else may have been playing C
(6 guys listed as RW, 5 as LW ... including Fontaine)

McBride was a Center in the three games against Maine last week from what I was hearing for the Admirals, and great catch of the HFD/WOR change of coaches this AM...

Anything pop up about Rykov? Hasn't it been 2 weeks since the last update?

Hoping he's ready soon, cause he could potentially take hold of a LHD spot on the bug club. Hajek hasn't left me inspired in his play recently

... Hajek hasn't left me inspired in his play recently

So many people here were all over G and Staal, for so long, for ineffective play.
Hajek seems simply to not be standing out. Not making bad plays much, not getting caught out of position much, just not drawing attention. That could be an appreciated trait in a D. Even if not inspiring 8^)
Not that I would protest a demotion, if/when Rykov earns his shot.
I too wish he was playing already, dammit

Rykov has been out a long time and has never played in North America to my knowledge. He’d prob be lucky just to see NHL ice at some point this season. He has to be fully healthy, get up to speed, and adapt to a different game. He’s not doing that all in 2 weeks.

Yeah Rykov needs to make it back before the New Year I would think, or else his chances of playing in the NHL for anything other than a cup at the tail end of the season pretty much evaporate.

Relevant:

"Defenseman Yegor Rykov was skating with the group in his non-contact jersey, #57. He is very close to returning as he was going to the doctor’s in the afternoon seeking medical clearance.

“If he is cleared as we hope, he won’t this weekend, but hopefully next weekend,” said Knoblauch. Rykov hasn’t played since the Traverse City tournament in September where he suffered a nasty high ankle sprain."

EXCELLENT news.

I’d love someone to actually interview Rykov. I bet this has been a uniquely stressful and weird time for the young man. Is he on social media?

Interesting quote from Beleskey about last season vs this one:

When queried about one very nasty bag skate the Wolf Pack suffered under former head coach, Keith McCambridge, last year upon their return from an unsuccessful Canadian road trip on a Monday – the traditional off day in hockey.
“I missed that practice by a week getting reassigned by the Rangers, but no question it left a really bad taste with players for two or three weeks afterward. It took the wind out of our sails. You feel you’re being punished, and you’re trying to win. It wasn’t a good atmosphere. Today doesn’t resemble that at all. It was a tough practice, yes. It was competitive. It was an hour-long battle to get better-together. I think it’s a good way to work toward breaking a losing streak.”

Interesting quote from Beleskey about last season vs this one:
Yeah, I saw that. Doesn't sound like guys were very happy with McCambridge. Every mention of last season by guys that were here is about how much better the atmosphere is. Which is good and bad, I guess. Bad in the sense that it's unfortunate that we as an organization allowed it to deteriorate like it did.
