I’m pretty certain Rykov has a high ankle sprain from the injury and how long it’s taking him. Plus the Reinjuring it is common. Could be a while before we see him.

Crawley is going to struggle to get AHl time with this group considering Rykov isn’t even there yet. Once he gets back lindgren Rykov and Day are going to eat most of the games on the left side

I’m like 99% sure it was announced as a sprain during training camp

Yeah it was.

And thanks for the report. When I saw a replay of it, it didn’t look like Rykov went into the boards. He went out of the picture, but he went down to block the shot far from the boards and I didn’t get that he would have the speed to keep going from like the FO dot all the way down into the end boards. My first thought was that the shooter stepped on him as he tried to jump over him, also looked like they patted him down for bleeding. But obviously that was incorrect and thanks for going back to check it! :)

Jeff Taylor probably goes down. The more interesting question is which right defenseman comes out of the lineup for Ebert or does Ebert start on the bench? Probably Raddysh comes out?
So who goes down w Ebert in ?

Based on usage (or lack thereof) and general ability, I would say Crawley. They have a number of more veteran guys they could send down, or someone like Geertsen, but IDK, I don't think they like Crawley that much. Before the season I would have said Day, but he's off to a good start.

Ebert a righty, Raddysh the likely candidate.

That doesn't mean that Crawley doesn't go down and Geertson becomes the spare when Rykov gets back.

disagree that raddysh would get bumped. he is younger and better than ebert with AHL experience

Crawley should go to ECHL in by opinion. He stinks. Raddysh has some potential not much but I'd like to see him in a game or 2 in the future. Is still young. Lindgren should be called up soon.

Crawley sent to the E which is where he should be.

will be interesting when Rykov gets back. they've got 4 legit AHL righty Dmen.

Lindgren Rykov Day will be locks on the left side when Rykov gets back

that leaves a spot for one of Geerts Taylor if they want to carry 8 which they probably will.

Raddysh is on a ELC, Ebert is not. The CBA ties their hands.

the cba ties whos hands? I'm not following you at all.

yeah TWT is implying some related conditions which are not apparent to me neither.

i am not aware of any operational differences between an ELC and a 2d or later deal.

my understanding of the only difference has been that ELC has compensation-related added conditions regarding salary and bonues

I think what TWT might be referring to is that players on a 1-way contract can't be sent to the ECHL without their consent. Both Raddysh and Ebert are on 2-way contracts. I'm not aware of any restrictions regarding 2-way contracts.

interesting i had not been aware of restrictions regarding ECHL assignments. Thanks

the only reference to ECHL in CBA seems to be this one, which actually does seem to refer specifically to ELCs ...

9.6 Loans to East Coast Hockey League. Players who are party to an Entry Level SPC may be Loaned to the East Coast Hockey League ("ECHL") without the requirement of Player consent, provided the Player will continue to be paid the stated amount of the AHL portion of his two-way SPC.

Thanks for looking that up. I was too lazy :)

So it is specifically ELCs and not all 2-way contracts. Good to know.

Did any Rangers get sent down to Hartford during our 6 day break to get some games in? I could see Kakko Howden, and Andersson going down to get some time in. Only because of how long the break is.

no...AHL plays the majority of their games on fri/sat/sun so the pack don't play until saturday.

Couldn't find a reference to this but am sure you are correct.

ECHL teams are allowed to have 21 players on their opening night rosters with 2 players placed in reserve for a total of 23. MARINERS CAPTAINS NAMED FOR 2019-20 SEASON - Maine Mariners
The current Mariner website still lists 25 players so we should soon hear of 2 more cuts and the two players on reserve, one of whom apparently is Ronning.

Maine has an affiliation with the Rangers/Wolfpack but also a secondary affiliation with Laval, the Montreal AHL team.

The 25 man roster breaks down as follows:

Rangers contracts (4) -- Crawley, Leedahl, Elmer, Ronning
Wolfpack contracts (6) -- McCollum, Tolkinen (Mariners Captain), McBride, Chase, Dmowski, Zerter-Gossage
Laval contracts (2) -- Lacouvee (goalie), Adams-Moison (forward)
Milwaukee contract (1) -- Savage (defenseman) alternate captain He played for Maine, which has his ECHL rights. He signed with Milwaukee but did not make the team and was sent to the ECHL where Maine exercised its rights to place him on its roster
Maine (12) -- Brassard (G), Coughlin (D), Kile (F), Wallin (F) alternate captain, Camarrata (F), Ferrell (F) all of whom started on Hartford's training camp roster
-- Crevier-Morin (D) alternate captain, Silvestre (D), Adams-Moison (F), McNichols (F) all of whom started on Laval's training camp roster
-- Fox (F) who started on Hershey's training camp roster
-- Master (F) who started on Lehigh Valley's training camp roster.

Because Maine has so many players it has cut several it signed over the summer and traded rookie Brett Supinski to Idaho for future considerations. It also declined to take two other Laval players who were sent to the ECHL. Maine Mariners hope to hit their stride in second season

This is much more than you will want to know about Maine. From a prospect point of view the players to focus on are the four Rangers players, the four Wolfpack non veteran players and perhaps Coughlin and Silvestre, who are rookie defensemen and Master who is a rookie forward. Everyone else has been in the ECHL before.

First game is tomorrow night.
