people might be disappointed but I don't thing anyone should be surprised. he's most likely not in the top 6 now and would get bumped further if the rangers ever drop to 7 d on the roster...

the ECHL is not normally a path for success but at his age i'd rather see him playing a ton of minutes there.

Day is a complete wildcard and the only way to gauge him is to see how his strengths and weaknesses manifest themselves against pro competition.

When looking at the roster in Hartford and the other prospects and defenders, I actually kind of figured there was a good chance he'd go down. A couple of us discussed it a while back, before camp. I predicted Leedahl and Day would be the two NHL ELC guys to go down.

It wouldn't be a death sentence, assuming he played well and continued developing, and showed something when he inevitably got called up to Hartford.

thinking about time in the E is changing over the last few years, as teams pro depth charts skew younger and towards more ELCs

Day is a first year pro, ice time is essential,

but also he is just as likely to get regular minutes w HWP,
8 D yes but factor in Crawley recovering from injury,
other nicks and bruises, Pedrie possibly as the demoted guy, and other unexpected events

i think it was more realistic in the past, when, except for prodigies, D-men weren't expected to be NHL-ready until 24 or older

Yeah that's what I went by originally. This happens every year. LOL. Who knows. Ronning wore 7 in Vancouver so that makes sense, I think he wore 14 when he briefly played in Hartford. Now the Pack says Gettinger is 7, when he was 26 in Soo I believe. Meskanen was 18 in Finland, which the Pack site says. Where does the AHL get 81, other than transposing digits? And Hajek IDK.

We'll find out in a couple nights!

Love that Fogarty got a letter. He is still a long-shot to make the NHL but if he doesn't, it won't be for lack of effort

I thought fogarty got himself on the map in training camp. I’d prefer him to nieces actually. I think he’s a prototype defensive c. From the little I saw.

Cant wait to see what this new AHL TV is about... HD... hopefully no more missing game action while they show fans/spectators/scoreboard inserts instead of the game (i.e.: take the scoreboard feed), basics (game clock/score/period number) would be nice. Also excited to finally hear Bob's voice again... one of the best in hockey!

AHLTV is doing a free weekend pass for anyone wanting to watch opening weekend. Hartford opens up at home against Providence on Oct. 5 and home against Laval on Oct. 7. I think this'll give a good perspective to the quality the games are shot in. Fingers crossed!!

The audio is terrible, especially just after a goal is scored. Certainly watchable but it's hard to work out who is who on a laptop screen
