Ballard reminded me of Scrooge but he never came around like Scrooge did.
Kinda reminded me of a mix of George Steinbrenner and Marge Schott.

He was Trump before Trump.Kinda reminded me of a mix of George Steinbrenner and Marge Schott.
He was Trump before Trump.
He was even more pompous if someone could be .. he had zero political motives except da $$$$$$$ .. but biggest single difference between almost all these guys including Steinberenner and Trump is outside of da court order (his house, some sum of $$$ and monthly amount to his Slavic girlfriend) he gave away ALL his wealth to charity and did not give a nickel to his 3 kids .. most of his 50-100M went to Bloor view childrens hospital if i remember correctly .. strange thing he was so cheap he could not spend $$$$$ on himself either .. he liked to make it and had cash box brought to him every Saturday night at Hot stove .. it was really all ego of holding da cash which he didn't spend and he did not put in bank either .. da story i heard was 25M cash all in bills in his house plus his house and da franchise value total 50-100MHe was Trump before Trump.
It took Ballard 10 years to pay off debt he incurred to buy business from Conn .. i don't think it was ego it was all about paying off Molson's, TD and a few others .. he learned to steal from peter to pay Paul .. once he had everyone paid off the govt took him to jail for tax evasion because as he stated "he was gonna give his $$$ to whom he wanted to give it too .. not who govt wanted to give it too" .. funny thing is he actually did exactly what he said he would do .. he actually went to jail on his convictions .. his tax auditor from KPMG (da guy with da 10-20 hole in ones) must have crapped himself on every tax submittal .. there was a reason he worked in CASH .. in todays $$$ could you imagine someone dying and having 250M cash all in bills in their house????????? you know he ripped off tax man at every turn so he could give his wealth to a children's hospitalWe are talking about the man who sold all the Stanley Cup banners because he couldn't stand being reminded that Conn had won multiple Cups and he never did...
Ya and Roger wearing the Paper bag over his head, when brought back,This looks amazing. If Brunt is involved, it must be good. He is one of only a few journalists I respect.
For those of us that lived through it, it will certainly bring back some bad memories.
How about when he brought the tiger on the ice, and painted the Ticats logo at center ice?? haha he was a nut.
One of the cities most iconic personalities in its long history.
Why did he ever agree to that? He should have told Harold to go f*** himselfYa and Roger wearing the Paper bag over his head, when brought back, lol.

Ruined part of your life?Don't think I'll watch this. This man was terrible and ruined a part of my life and aside from the great relief and celebrating I did when he died, I barely give this bastard a thought or mention.
I had to laugh, the day he died my answering machine filled up with congratulations from friends - I kept that cassette for years - it may still be kicking around in a box somewhere. Kept that day's Toronto Star too
or the time he booked the Beatles for 2 shows and they were only booked for 1 show. That pissed the Beatles manager right off. Then he turned up the heat inside MLG and charged double the price on water for the show. This looks amazing. If Brunt is involved, it must be good. He is one of only a few journalists I respect.

This never actually happened. Though apparently it almost did.Why did he ever agree to that? He should have told Harold to go f*** himself
Was getting an NHL job tough back then for a coach? Ballard could have blackballed him amongst his other owner friends?
