Now Feb 14 is a special time of year for some of us. Spending time with that special someone, exchanging overpriced chocolates and last minute cards we get after work so we don’t end up on the couch (and no I’m obviously not talking about myself, I obviously remembered), all that fun stuff. However, in our sphere of happiness, we need to remember those less fortunate this year. I’m taking my glasses off now, because I’m about to discuss an NHLer who has had anything but a year of Eros.
Now we all know who Brady Skjei is by now. Hell, if you don’t know, I’ve already said it to you like a broken record. He’s a total beast and a goddamn legend on the ice. This has been by motto since 2019 on this site (check the rangers boards if you need to), and I’ve come here to share stories about him over the years. Every Christmas, I’d share a story about him here. From my Kris Letang lite experience to him saving Christmas for NYC in his first season there after being scratched for god knows why. I’ve talked about stolen Conn smythe’s, the stolen Hart trophy, the rigged Calder voting process, and the systematic bullshit the NHL has thrown at him. Seriously, half my moderation warnings have to do with my Skjei threads, and maybe that’s a reflection of all the bs Skjei faces in the NHL. But I didn’t have a story to tell this past season so far, and it’s because this season has been a total Taylor Swift heartbreak for him. From the Canes blowing his guaranteed Conn Smythe run to the Predators absolutely shitting the bed, and now Torts and Sullivan decided to Phil Kessel the guy by leaving him off the team USA… lucky Skjei is too humble to tweet about things he should be doing. Anyways, this horrific year has drained my gaz, and I didn’t have the heart to share my Christmas story of Brady Skjei literally fending off 6 bears to allow my escape. It’ll have to wait

. Seriously, Shakespeare could only dream of writing the tragedy that is 2024-25 Predators.
The point I’m making is, appreciate the people in your life that are special. Because if you don’t, Brady Skjei will give a firm warning about what he would do if he wasn’t a nicer person. Happy Valentine’s Day folks.
