OT - NO POLITICS Happy New Year HFBruins!

I was hoping to see deer in the snow today. Just happened to be looking outside when this one trotted through the yard

Went to the DCU center in Worcester last night to see Cirque du Solei. Obo.

Never been to one of their shows. Somewhat interesting. Somewhat very strange.

Not sure if I will ever see another one. The Bride loved it. I just kinda sat there with a wrinkled brow , WTF look on my face.

When my better half went to Vegas with her mother to see Adele, I jumped onto the MGM website and bought them seats to a Cirque de Soleil show the night before Adele. Paid out the ass for it but they loved it. She has tried to explain it to me and I don't think it's for me. I watched the video you posted and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be turned on or scared.

But, as I'm sure was your reasoning, if the lady finds a show and would like me to attend...I just go.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Lego Maleficent dragon. She’s been my favorite since I was little. I saw the movie when I was little and was the only one who didn’t freak out. Loved her ever since. I won’t build the castle but I may add the lighting kit to make the wings and green fire glow.

Never been. I'd likely have the same reaction. Nothing wrong with taking one for the missus, it's good for marital harmony.

My mom got me a sous vide for Christmas. I love cooking and am comfortable in the kitchen, but I’m a little intimated.

Anyone have experience and any tips?

No tips. You don't need any. A vacuum sealer helps, but you can also submerge the bag to get the air out and then seal it. You literally can't overcook something via sous vide, so just toss it in the water and don't worry about it.

PS - My favorite thing to sous vide is cheap cuts of steak. Skirt, hanger, stuff like that. 2 hours at 130 degrees, then sear in a cast iron pan for 1-2 minutes per side. It makes a tough cut eat like filet mignon.

Two words: Pork Chops

My instant pot has a sous vide setting, I only use it once every few months, but pork chops in it are perfectly tender.

Oh good call. Pork chops can be so tough to get right. I find tenderloin to be more forgiving, but in general pork isn’t an easy protein

It’s January 11th and I’ve paid 50,000 in tax already

This free healthcare thing is questionable

Agree, but also most people can’t nail a boneless skinless chicken breast either

Sous vide-ing thick pork chops to just under temperature then giving them a quick sear is game changing. Nothing beats a medium rare porkchop (which would scare the hell out of a lot of people to try, but is perfectly safe at the recommended temp).

Breasts are easy to overcook. Thighs are way more forgiving. I did make a really good chicken schnitzel out of a breast the other night though.

I’m a weirdo and only like breasts. I don’t do dark meat. Occasionally I’ll hammer one, but generally I do alright. We had some tonight with roasted potatoes and carrots that I nailed. Juicy and tender.

Usually even if you overcook them a bit, resting the meat for at least 5 minutes can help

You know what I very weirdly struggle with? Getting bacon just right

The number of euphemisms in this post nearly gave me a stroke not responding to

There’s no way to say you like breasts and not dark meat without inviting some euphemism. Add in hammering the meat and it’s all over.

Hey guys if I get up four times to go to the cookies rather than taking the whole sleeve at once despite knowing I’ll eventually eat them all, is that CrossFit?
