Anyone ever done the cruise to Alaska out of Seattle or Vancouver?

Been giving some thought to booking for this summer. Appreciate any comments from those who have .

not personally but our next door neighbor and his significant other do so every year, they leave from downtown Victoria , go for 2 or 3 weeks a year, can`t recall but this year is their 10th year in a row so must be something they love about it

Yes, have done the same one as @Ladyfan from Anchorage to Vancouver. We didn't do any of the prior extras up to Denali or anything like that, but I'd also say that they're well worth looking into. We sailed with Holland America and they were very good. Quality service, nice cabins, good food, enough on the ship to keep you entertained without feeling too glitzy or over-the-top. It was an amazing trip with so much beautiful scenery and wildlife. Would definitely recommend it. I think you'd have a great time!

The bigger ships can of course get a bit busy, and I appreciate some people don't like the sardine-tin feel they can have. A smaller boat would be quieter, probably give you a more immersive experience with your surroundings, and they can go places the big ships can't. But they do tend to cost quite a lot more. Just comes down to personal preference really. At least in Alaska most of the bigger ships that sail there are really only what today are considered to be medium-sized, holding around 2,000 people or so. The 5,000+ capacity behemoths that you'll find in the Caribbean and places like that don't go there.

My apartment has 4 and they are on the ceiling. My smoke alarms are on the wall and I have sprinklers in every room. I will be putting in a work order to make sure I have fresh batteries in the co2 alarm.

From what I see should be mounted 5' off floor


CO2 carbon dioxide is much less dangerous

So your home needs a CO alarm not a CO2 alarm

Few days ago someone was caught chewing on wood siding again and got yelled at so for a few hours they hid behind me and then laid on my foot. Until I had to go to work and it was nap time with my father. All was forgiven by then.

I put one in my house a couple years ago, it's mounted about 5 feet off the floor. It also said to place it about 8 feet away from the gas appliance/source if I remember right. I would assume this is to avoid false positives.

When we booked our cruise with virgin we did a lock it in rate for a balcony. We didn’t get to choose and we couldn’t change once a room was assigned. Cost was 2200 total.

They gave us a less than ideal balcony spot, but it will be fine for the price. Cost to book a balcony now is over 4k.

Just got an email to bid on an upgrade. We submitted at 110 and asked our agent what inventory is like. There are 20+ cabins available at the tier we bid for. I’m fairly confident we will get it.

If we do get it, half price. I’m ok with that
