Yes, have done the same one as
@Ladyfan from Anchorage to Vancouver. We didn't do any of the prior extras up to Denali or anything like that, but I'd also say that they're well worth looking into. We sailed with Holland America and they were very good. Quality service, nice cabins, good food, enough on the ship to keep you entertained without feeling too glitzy or over-the-top. It was an amazing trip with so much beautiful scenery and wildlife. Would definitely recommend it. I think you'd have a great time!
The bigger ships can of course get a bit busy, and I appreciate some people don't like the sardine-tin feel they can have. A smaller boat would be quieter, probably give you a more immersive experience with your surroundings, and they can go places the big ships can't. But they do tend to cost quite a lot more. Just comes down to personal preference really. At least in Alaska most of the bigger ships that sail there are really only what today are considered to be medium-sized, holding around 2,000 people or so. The 5,000+ capacity behemoths that you'll find in the Caribbean and places like that don't go there.
