What’s tying you to the area where you currently reside?

How would you best describe your current situation?

• I’m a lifer. I love it here. Never moving.

• I’m stuck in my situation and have no way out.

• I’m happy here, and I’d only move if the ideal situation came to fruition.

• I’m not unhappy, but I’d consider moving to a better location or if the right career path opened up.

• I’m actively seeking to relocate. The sooner, the better.

Actually it’s the phenomenal health care we get at UMass Med Ctr. The Bride is now 2 years cancer free. But various appointments to keep in check monthly. I’m having surgery January 24 to remove a tumor on my parathyroid glands. Again great trust in the surgeons and oncologists out here.

We would love to downsize though. House too big and driveway so steep I can no longer do snow. So hopefully in the next three to four years tops we find something out here in Central MA or down the Cape.

I was semi-seriously considering relocating last spring.

A warmer climate would have been a bonus.

We decided to give it one more year up this way, and things appear to be breaking in such a way that we’ll be here at least through the school age years for Jacob (and any subsequent linemates he acquires).

However, if this is the case, we’ve got to move closer to my school. Right now, it’s 40 minutes. Not undoable, but we had back to back late night with holiday concert and basketball game/movie night.

Would be much different if we lived 10 minutes away.

Happy here, only move for ideal situation.

I would say lifer, because I absolutely love Tennessee, but there is some uncertainty at my job with my boss likely retiring in the next few months and rumors of some restructuring. Let's just say based on company history (and I've been here over 20 years, I've personally witnessed a lot of history), I'm afraid of who they will pick to replace my boss. And no, it wouldn't be me and I wouldn't want it even if they offered. But he's a big reason I've stayed here as long as I have. So, we'll see.

Everything kinda ties us here right now: My job, as I’m the primary breadwinner. We found a great daycare spot for our daughter, her teachers are great and she’s really thriving. We bought our house at the right time and our interest rate is below 3%.

That said, my wife has expressed her desire to move back to her hometown at some point (she grew up in Western New York) and in a few years, that could happen.

1. Own a business that has been in the family 95 years, plus sister & her kids live close.

2. I have lived here my entire life. If I can ever retire I might leave for Florida's Space Coast.

I would have loved to see a shuttle launch in person. I once saw it from a very great distance during a night launch. I know they had issues but I loved the shuttles. Someday I need to go see one of them now that they're on display.

I'm stuck here because of family reasons. If I were free to relocate, I might work for a couple more years at my HCOL salary and then cash out my equity and get a bigger house in an LCOL state.

Wow that must have been awesome! I got to see the Orion spacecraft test launch when I went to Florida a few years ago. I definitely recommend you see a shuttle, I saw Discovery which is on display at Kennedy Space Center. When the doors opened the entire crowd's response to seeing it hanging aloft was "oooooooooo". It was amazing. 🚀

2019 we cast a wide net of where to relocate to. I LOVED working IN boston but hated the commute or paying to live near Boston. I still miss it, but it was not worth it if I ever wanted to go to a concert mid day or coach a sport.

We were between the the Upper Valley of VT/NH (Near Dartmouth), Mid Coast Maine, and Western MA. The Upper Valley won out and we are very happy here. The Upper Valley is a unique place being rural but having Dartmouth as the anchor for jobs. Met a ton of locals who are successful and moved back to raise their families.

Maybe if I won the lotto we would move to Wellfleet or MDI, or Little Compton, RI but other than that we are happy where we are.

Lifer. Anywhere in New England, happy as a clam.

Could not pay me to live anywhere else in the world.

Provence, Bordeaux, Berlin, London.

Visit.

Or rent to own,

✌️👀
