Just looking to set the record straight on a couple of key points:

• All versions of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” suck.

• There are really only handful of decent Christmas songs, period. Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses is great. The classics like The Chipmunk Song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reimdeer, and the original Frosty the Snowman are up there as well. Do You Hear What I Hear by Bing Crosby brings tears to my eyes. I could do without the never ending parade of shitty covers. Tom Petty’s Christmas All Over is kinda quirky and I like it.

• There are even fewer decent Christmas movies. Home Alone is the best. It’s a great movie. If you count Die Hard, which you should, that’s up there as well as Rocky 4. Jingle All the Way is schlock, but I’ll give it a watch every year. If we were delving into the world of animation, the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas is the best.
Im not sure if they are considered good songs, but that whole album from like 1988 maybe, its the one with songs from Run DMC, Bruce Springsteen etc. I was like 10 years old listening to that album around Xmas, will always like those songs

Let me answer your post point by point

1. My only objection to this song is that it has nothing to do with Christmas. Same deal with "Winter Wonderland".

2. Love "Christmas Wrapping" and the classics you mentioned. My personal favorites are "Ring Christmas Bells" by Ray Conniff, "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson & "Merry Christmas, Darling" by the Carpenters.

3. Christmas movies_ "It's A Wonderful Life" AINEC. I also enjoy "Elf".

4. The only animation better than the original "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" is " A Charlie Brown Christmas".

I probably need to watch it again, but I remember HATING It's a Wonderful Life. George Bailey was an asshole. Perhaps it will hit different now that I'm much older than the last time I saw it, but there's also a chance I see it as even worse.

Yes, I realize that this take is likely to get me tarred and feathered.

The Grinch and Charlie Brown though, treasures for sure.

Wally encouraged me to share this and I am very happy to do so.

My family is once again running the Kayla Noel Memorial Toy Drive in my sister’s memory. She passed away unexpectedly in 2011 one day before her 23rd birthday, just a week before Christmas, due to complications from a chronic condition. We started this drive for local Boston hospitals in her name because during one of her many hospital stays she said that’s exactly what she wanted to do at Christmas. She hoped to one day bring toys to kids who were also there during the holidays.

The first year we did this I thought we’d be lucky to get 50 toys at best. We got more than 500. Since then we’ve grown every year, donating thousands and thousands of toys to kids and families during a tough time when they need them most.

This year we’re back partnering with BMC and Shriners Children's Boston, two great hospitals very grateful for our help. If you’d like to contribute it’s super easy. Both have Amazon Wish Lists you can use (links below). Pick as many items as you like from either or both and include a note for each gift that reads “For the Kayla Noel Toy Drive.” They ship straight to the hospitals and your note lets them know to put one of our drive’s stickers on the toy.

If you donate please let me know so I can keep track and, more importantly, thank you. Some members of HFBruins have already contributed because this place is the best.

I hope our drive have our best year ever. If you know anyone who would like to participate please share this with them. Every year strangers who learn about my sister’s dream and our drive end up donating and it always really means so much to me and my family, especially my mom. I can also answer any and all questions you or anyone else has.

Thank you all so much in advance. The hospitals’ Wish Lists are belowand Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you.

Have I been a good boy? THATS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

I have a strange mind, and will get stuck on random things for too long. This song for example, I've been known to sing throughout the year with absolutely no triggers or reasons to do so

The AA Group myself and a sponsee started in July is going great, having our Inaugural Pot Luck Christmas social followed by a Gratitude Meeting, the church we hold our meetings in is struggling, I met with the Pastor last week to ask permission to use their full kitchen in the basement which he was more than happy to grant.

Doing a bit of an untraditional dinner, smoking a shoulder of pork for pulled pork sandwiches, wife making massive pot of Seafood Chowder plus many other things. The room is big enough to only hold 60ppl, small church, when I told the Pastor all monies donated by our AA members will be donated to the church, he cried, he got even more emotional when I invited him to join us. The church does not charge us a nickel to meet each week, least we could do.

it likely won`t be a ton as we are a bunch of ex-booze hounds , many don`t have much but every bit counts.

Merry Christmas friends, I`ll try to take a few pics of the gathering to share here omitting the faces of those in attendance, thus the "Anonymous" part of the program

You're a good egg, Mike. And an even better brother and human. You already know this, but to know that I was roaming halls of Pope John at the same time she was but never met, makes me feel close to this toy drive. She seemed like a remarkable person. You doing this toy drive in her honor, she's very proud of you.

I'm glad I popped on here to see this even though I'm still taking time away.

Just PMed you.

@Morris Wanchuk That Fogelberg song is a gem! When I was working at the Walmart garden center in high school, that song would play CONSTANTLY over the Walmart radio. Loved it then. Love it now. Hearing it now made me feel like I was sorting Christmas merchandise alone at night in the back of the garden center. Such a peaceful gig.
