Someone offer sheet him now! I want something to watch before the season start. Anyway, I don't see the team that can do it would do it.

We are a budget team (so we are being cheap) but we also are $7,520,833 from the cap and also have Rakell to sign so...

Offer sheet him and we will match ending this drama.

The bigger issue is they lack the cap space. It might have made sense before the Okposo signing, but at this point it's very far-fetched.

Sabres $8,150,476 in cap space with Ristolainen needing to be re-signed still yea Sabres ain't doing anything.

Let him walk then :).

In all seriousness, it would be foolish to not match. But that's a win-win because you'll have to let other talent walk then to fit the budget.

Lindholm is waiting Trouba and Trouba is waiting Lindholm to sign?

I understood that article, than Anaheim tries to sign Hampus with a discount and he doesn't want to sign with a discount, because it lowers others bar for salary demands.

He will want a market value, kind of a fair contract.

As a fan of the Jets and Jacob Trouba may I say to our Duck friends......Welcome to the jungle, I was wondering what took so long.

Ducks match then trade Despres to a team willing to take a chance on him (I wouldn't be so sad to see him traded) or trade Stoner with a pick then re-sign Rakell

i translated the article and it said "economical" lol
Google translate says economical, but translate.com says "lean". I don't speak Swedish so I don't know what it exactly says lol.

Either way, I respect Lindholm for wanting to set a precedent for his comparables, but sign already, damn it!

I doubt that is the case Lindholm was probably just saying negotiations have been tougher then expected. I also don't see Buffalo or the Devils going the offer sheet route when they could try to make a regular hockey deal work instead.

It would be beyond foolish to let Lindholm walk.

But if an offer sheet drives up Lindholm's price tag and means other pieces can't remain, that works too. Lucky for you guys you still have Larsson and Theo coming up.

I would do terrible, unforgivable things to get Lindholm on the Devils but four 1sts gives me some terrible pause for concern. I'd like to shore up our forward group before we go all in on that. I don't think we're quite ready for that just yet.

Would be nice to see Winnipeg offer-sheeting Lindholm and Anaheim offer-sheeting Trouba with same salaries. :D We need a Nuclear War!

And then not to match.

Anaheim after that:

Fowler(L) - Trouba(R)
Despres(L) - Vatanen(R)
Theodore(L) - Bieksa(R)
Stoner(L) - Manson(R)

Winnipeg:
Lindholm(L) - Byfuglien(R)
Enström(L) - Myers(R)
Stuart(L) - Postma(R)
Chiarot(L)

Better handness mix for both teams?

Except Winnipeg makes out like bandits if that's the case. Lindholm is the far better player.

New Jersey hasn't got their third round pick next year, so they'd have to go for the 4 1sts level. Buffalo hasn't got the cap space with their own RFA to sign.

To be fair, the conditions on the Ruutu trade that involves a 3rd to Carolina are completely unknown. I've only seen a single source say something either way.

It's also entirely possible that the conditions include NJ being able to send a 3rd of their choice, etc.

not that an offer sheet is likely anyways..

Interesting.

If NJ has their third, I would debate going into the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick territory. The better option would be to offer just below the 5.632 million.
