I'd rather try to get Theadore and Bieksa.

Yes, Bieksa. Give them a good prospect for Theadore (one of the 1sts like Debrusk) for Theadore and then take on Bieksa's bad contract so they can sign Lindholm.

We don't want to trade Theodore he is our top defenseman prospect who played some in the NHL doing well.

No, you trade him for another blue chip prospect in a position that you need as well as getting cap relief. Suddenly you have the money to keep your core intact and also add a blue chip winger to your prospect pool that will fight for a job this year.

What? That's a great offer but I can understand why the Ducks don't do it. Marchand is criminally underrated.

On another note, how are the Ducks going to be able to sign Lindholm and Rackell? Aren't they already pushing their internal budget? They seem kind of screwed, no?

I don't know. I guess they'll fold the team, since players can't be traded to clear cap space or anything like that

Do you think that Lindholm will take kindly to being bridged while a lesser Dman in Vatanen was signed semi-long term? That's a good way to strain relations between the best Dman on the team and management. They would still have Rackell to sign as well who should come in around the $4M mark. That's about $10M for the two players that the Ducks don't have available. Even if they deal Fowler for futures, they are still pressed against the cap after signing those two and way over the internal budget.

I'm just really surprised that they let it go this long with Lindholm unsigned while they continue on with all these smaller signings and Vatanen earlier in the offseason. Just an odd situation unless Lindholm's ask is completely unreasonable.

I know we've been a budget team historically, but with better revenue sharing we have been able to spend more. I don't think it's as big an issue as people think.

Also from what I've just been told, you can trade players in this league. So we may be able to move some salary out. I know it's a strange concept but apparently it's true

So it's your opinion that they are about to trade Fowler or Vatanen before camp so they can sign Lindholm? Actually asking your opinion because you've directed the conversation to the trade option twice.

I see where you're coming from but the biggest part of this trade is removing Bieska's and his NMC, which takes up a valuable spot in the expansion draft, off the books. In reality, there is a very little chance anyone takes Bieska off the Ducks hands with expansion looming.

The last year of Bieksa's contract can get bought out after the season but before the expansion draft if he refuses to waive his NMC. There's no reason to waste trading one of our top prospects to get rid of him.
