Does Total Control get any love? Like is it popular enough to get its own playlist and have it well populated? Really like this type of mode as its the only thing I played in the COD games.

Halo's always been a bit weird in that regard. It's always had a set of playlists where some game modes are by themselves, or in a grab bag type thing.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it's always been:

Slayer
Free for all
S.W.A.T
Objective (CTF/oddball/KOTH)
Infection
Fiesta
Big team battle (where, iirc pretty much everything was all lumped together)
Riccochet (halo 4)
Grifball

Objective modes, at least as far as I can remember have always been lumped together as their own playlist. Which I guess makes sense since while they all play a bit differently, they all focus on fighting over a particular thing/area?

Big team battle will follow the same idea unfortunately

I like Strongholds and Total Control. Plenty of action without having to just sit there and hold a ball like Oddball.

Happy they are coming out with playlists but when he says after the holiday, like Xmas? I feel like throwing a slayer playlist out there shouldn't be that difficult.
Agree with that. Doesn’t seem like it would be hard but I’m not a game developer. Maybe their focus is a lot on campaign with next week.

Needler is really f***ing good in this game too. Probably the best its ever been in the series.

Pretty much any close range gunfight makes the Needler an "I win" button. Its not hit as hard by desync because of the homing capabilities.

(And I say this as someone who's always been trash with the Needler)
I'm sure it's getting a nerf at some point.

I'm sure it's getting a nerf at some point.

Doubtful. It's pretty useless at range and you can outgun a Needler with an AR pretty easily. Since there's no dual-wielding it doesn't need to be as useless as it was in Halo 2 or Halo 3.

Yeah the Needler gets beaten at anything that isn't CQC range. I don't think it needs a nerf.

AR works pretty well since it can land more shots in the same amount of time, but that's assuming they all register.

I definitely agree with the commando being reverted. For a DMR replacement it kinda sucks ass.

So just listening to the IGN Xbox podcast, sounds like the embargo on campaign reviews will be Monday or Tuesday. Pretty excited to play the campaign after watching a lot of the preview coverage.

I keep hearing the Commando referred to as a DMR replacement. Did 343 say this? If so, can you link me?

Cause at face value it seems absurd.

So apparently the Halo Infinite ranking system is a pretty complex ELO system.

Your progress depends very significantly on how good your teammates and opponents are.

Basically, the game makes an educated guess about how the game should go based on the team composition, specifically each player's performance history weighted for recency. The more wildly you deviate from that projection positively or negatively impacts your rank change.

So for example, if the game believes that team A should wipe the floor with team B, and team A does so, everybody on the team can go perfect and still not get a big rank boost cause the game thinks 'well duh, you should have'. Meanwhile, if team A and B have a close match that team A wins, the people on Team B could actually see their rank go up in a loss, while the people on Team A could see a small rank drop even if they won.

The biggest rank gain you can get is to go up against a team the game thinks should win handily, and beat their brains out. Likewise, the biggest rank loss you can get is if you go up against a team the game thinks you should wipe the floor with, and get your ass handed to you.

Ideally matchmaking would ensure that every match was composed of teams that are close to dead even in skill, but matchmaking has to make concessions for connection speed and party composition that the ranking doesn't.

This sounds really cool actually. Where’d you see this?

So that explains why when just starting out my team mates are dog crap who can't figure out how to play the game objective EVEN THOUGH IT'S SPELLED OUT FOR THEM. That and no one uses mics on Xbox.

I also can't stand the shooting perspective. I want to get rid of that hanging gun on the right completely. It's useless.

Having more fun with this game than any multiplayer FPS in a long time tbh. Both my teams are playing right now and I've been playing Halo the whole time with the games in the background.

Still not totally used to mouse and key but I get by and have fun.

This is the best FPS game to come out in a long, long time. No bullshit gimmicks, no garbage like Battlefield has where they changed the game to try and appeal to everyone but the people who play it.

It has its issues but at its absolute core is a fantastic gameplay loop and mechanics that captures the glory of the original Halo games. And the issues are patchable at least. Shit I even don't mind Big Team Battle which is the first time I can say that pretty much any time I played halo.

I'll probably just play the campaign and wait for them to add more playlists and fix the server issues. Hopefully that's good too

If you have a controller just plug that in and use it, its better than KB&M in this game especially if you're more accustomed to it

I can't get my sensititivy settings down right. I played Halo MCC with a look sensitivity around 3 or 4. I don't know how you guys get headshots with these 6+ sensitivity settings.

Do i have to have the Battle Pass if i want to unlock armor?

Som stuff. If you look at the BP you will see what is free to unlock and what you unlock when you buy it. It's fairly limited for free. Like other BP's if you buy it later you will get all the items you would have already progressed through.

I do have a major gripe. If you choose to buy any of the team skins or weapon skins they are fully locked down. Meaning you cannot apply any of the armor effects to them when you unlock them. So the kill effect where the enemy disintegrates, you can not apply that to purchased weapon skin. It makes zero sense. You cannot buy one of the team sets and apply the flaming shoulders or helmet.

Yeah i just noticed that with the team weapon skins. I wish the skins weren't all sponsored by ESports teams ("sport" lol). I like the skins but don't want to be repping some gamers i know nothing or care nothing about.

For controller players, the problem is in a BR battle you need those slight back and forth movements so if it's too high you're all over the place. If it's too low you turn around slow as shit. I think mine is around a 7 with look acceleration maxed to be able to turn around but I also played with the curve on my elite controller to smooth it out. My problem is vertical so I lowered that one a bit.

I have some issues with the pistol. It seems like guys rapid-fire that thing no problem with no bloom.

Yeah i just cant keep a steady lock on my targets anymore and i'm not sure why. I'm all over the place, some movements are too quick, some are too slow. And all the recommendations online have me f***ing with my deadzones so i'm drifting all over the place. I don't know why the defaults aren't better.

I would do bot games and fine tune your settings.

Most Halo players know this but everyone should be using bumper jumper or paddles for jump with controllers. At no point should your hands come off the sticks during a battle. I use normal config with paddles for jump and crouch/slide. RB for Melee
