Don’t know enough about Caps to speak on Carberry, but they really have done excellent in FA and trades (and the draft, it appears). I give the FO there most the credit for finding bargain values with upside and making them work.

I love Evason as a guy, so no issues with him winning this. Such a likable person and I know he’s a guy players enjoy playing for

Berube should be in consideration. Implemented a new defensive-minded playstyle for the team and has gotten them to buy in and execute on it, all while having multiple significant injuries. At one point the Leafs were missing 6-7 of their 12 starting forwards (almost all top 9 guys too) and were forced to use dudes like Kampf and Holmberg in the top six. McCabe, Woll and Stolarz have also missed and will be missing multiple games. Despite all this the team is first in the Atlantic and currently tied with the Caps for first in the East (though 2nd in pts%).

I imagine Keefe or Carberry probably win though if their teams keep it up given that the Jack Adams is generally given to the coach of the best 'surprise' team or rebound story.

I voted for Arniel, but if we had the option to change our vote, I'd do it and would vote for Carbery

Not that I think that Arniel is bad, but I think that Hellebuyck is the thing most responsible for the Jets success

What Carbery did with Washington this year is impressive

No love for Knoblauch? No defense, and no goaltending. Somehow he's coached them to 4th OA(4 points back of first with a game in hand) in the league, 4th lowest SA/G with the 7th lowest GA/G

Do you know the leaf’s have the same amount of points as last season at this point and they added tanev, stolarz and OeL..

I voted the caps coach, but after thinking on it, it’s dean evason.

Wrong, by January 20th last season they had played 44 games, won 22 games, put up 52 points and had a pts % of .591. This year they won 29 out of 47 games so far, with 60 pts and a .638 pts%. They are also first in their division, whereas last season by this point the Bruins and Panthers had run away with the top two spots and Toronto was duking it out with Tampa for #3. As for the additions, according to this board Tanev was old and injury prone, Stolarz is just a backup who benefited from playing for a strong Florida team, and OEL is a bottom pairing D at best who also benefited from being behind the other Florida D.

Also, comparing just absolute points is kinda dumb as you should always be looking at things relative to the league. There is so much parity in this league and so much roster turnover every summer, plus developmental shifts. Younger teams on the cusp are finally breaking through somewhat while older squads like Boston etc are not what they used to be, the bottom of the Atlantic from the last few years is not 'free points' like it was for so many years, so there are less top heavy teams racking up points this season.

I'm not saying Berube should win, but he should definitely be in the mix given that Toronto hasn't had a healthy roster all year and has had major injuries to deal with.

If you’re going to compare, you need to compare the same amount of games played, not the date,

I am just responding to buddy above who said 'by this point last year'. Also that's why you use pts% like I also provided to normalize for the number of games rather than absolute points. Their pts% is still way better.

47 games this year 60 points
47 games last year 58 points

That’s easier, to compare than for example what 0.018 points percentage difference means , or whatever the number is.
