Who has been the league's best coach UP TO NOW? (not who you think it will be at season's end)
Oilers have good defense. But I agree, no Knoblauch is hilariousNo love for Knoblauch? No defense, and no goaltending. Somehow he's coached them to 4th OA(4 points back of first with a game in hand) in the league, 4th lowest SA/G with the 7th lowest GA/G
Do you know the leaf’s have the same amount of points as last season at this point and they added tanev, stolarz and OeL..Berube should be in consideration. Implemented a new defensive-minded playstyle for the team and has gotten them to buy in and execute on it, all while having multiple significant injuries. At one point the Leafs were missing 6-7 of their 12 starting forwards (almost all top 9 guys too) and were forced to use dudes like Kampf and Holmberg in the top six. McCabe, Woll and Stolarz have also missed and will be missing multiple games. Despite all this the team is first in the Atlantic and currently tied with the Caps for first in the East (though 2nd in pts%).
I imagine Keefe or Carberry probably win though if their teams keep it up given that the Jack Adams is generally given to the coach of the best 'surprise' team or rebound story.
