Strap Laf back with Chytil and he will play faster again, but that's never going to happen.
not Cuylle. he's shown himself to be mentally strong. he'd take a scratch in stride, say all the right things, chin held high. It's not.
It's going to tempt Lavi to scratch Cuylle to spark the team though.
2 Canadians on his right covered by a forward. Why stay left? The play is all in front of him. As I said earlier, the 3rd guy stayed at the blue line - not a threat. The only threat was on the other side, He has to start cheating that way and he never did.I don't think he's anticipating Kreider rolling out the red carpet for Guhle.
You can't expect him to account for all 3 Habs on the ice.

What man. He was over on the left picking daisiesim pretty sure this coaching staff is adamant that defensemen need to stay with their man above all else.
To me this is because the Rangers weakness has historically been 5v5 play while they beat teams in every other situation. Since 5v5 is the majority of the game, the Rangers have made it a bit of an art form playing rope-a-dope winning games. The only team other than the Rangers where having good players in sneered at are the Oilers. I don't get it. Rangers had good players is somehow a cheat code. When the Penguins win three cups with the top 2 centers in the world everyone is treating their body like an amusement park over their roster.
how are they at 5v5 vs last year?To me this is because the Rangers weakness has historically been 5v5 play while they beat teams in every other situation. Since 5v5 is the majority of the game, the Rangers have made it a bit of an art form playing rope-a-dope winning games.
Goaltending certainly played a big part which makes the 5v5 play look even worse because we're constantly getting bailed out.
This year, their PP being ass has exposed them as it was one of their "cheat codes" along with stellar goaltending. While I still believe they've had good goaltending this year (we'll agree to disagree), the defense was atrocious during most of the first half of the season.
Until this team is able to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in 5v5, the chances of winning the cup is going to remain a significant long shot.
shhh!Just saw that Kakko has 13 pts in 14 games with SEA

He wasn't needed where he was, first of all. Secondly, when Laine charges to the net, who did he expect to get him? Fil removed himself from the play at the blue line. He's backing up. The play is right in front of him. It doesn't hurt anything to take a step or two right.Because you can't assume that the other guys aren't going to do their jobs.
It's not as easy a read as you think because Kreider was actually positioned to snuff that rush out until he wasn't.
Like Chytil clearly should have stayed with Laine and released for what ever reason but I'd actually put most of the blame here on Kreider because this doesn't become anything if he doesn't let it.
I don't have the data in front of me so I'm admittedly shooting from the hip. Feel free to prove me wrong but I doubt this team has been good 5v5.how are they at 5v5 vs last year?

Miller is great defending the guy with the puck 1 on 1 with his size, speed and reach. But he just doesn't process where the most dangerous threat is coming from.
I am slightly alarmed that Fox seems to be turning a bit stupid like all of the talented players that play for this team. Something seriously smells here.Fox passed Brad Park tonight for 4th on the all time Rangers d-men list with his 60th multi assist game...but yeah, let's trade the bum

However, my personal belief is that your team can't have any glaring weaknesses if you want to win it all. I believe it was Kreider who said your weaknesses get exposed more come playoff time. Also believe MH on this forum has said "don't sign bad players" or something to that effect.
I'm actually okay with the Igor signing because he's a really good player. His salary being high just puts more pressure on Drury to not sign bad players because there's less $ to work with.
I also believe people aren't taking future cap increases into account, at least not enough. The cap going flat from Covid screwed a lot of teams but it wasn't normal. Inflation is real and we're going to see it reflected in future cap increases.
Last year we scored 166 goals in 82 games 5v5 (natural stat trick) at 2.02 gpg, good for a tie of 19th in the leaguehow are they at 5v5 vs last year?
There was only one threat. The 3rd guy stayed at the blue line. Miller didn't take anybody You can't just allow Laine to plow to the net without any resistance.Yeah this is incredibly nit picky and 100% captain hindsight-y.
Are we really going to point the finger at Miller when the other 2 players clearly made egregious errors? I can guarantee had he done what you proposed and the puck ends up getting over to Evans (I think it was him) and he's able to walk in and score the conversation turns to why he isn't shaded towards his assignment.
Again, you cannot expect him to do his job and the job of the other 2 people.
As bad as it is now, even thinking about moving Fox should be a crime against humanity and fireable offense.Fix the rotting stink in this organization as opposed to moving your franchise playerI am slightly alarmed that Fox seems to be turning a bit stupid like all of the talented players that play for this team. Something seriously smells here.
But I would definitely hang onto him.
I agree. I could be convinced on hanging onto Laf too to see what he can be. The culture sucks and they need real change. As bad as it is now, even thinking about moving Fox should be a crime against humanity and fireable offense.Fix the rotting stink in this organization as opposed to moving your franchise player
good info. i'm also interested in process #s. maybe they're on NST. there's also a new hockey stat site where team analytics are posted for free: www.modshouldunbanmyrosterthread.chLast year we scored 166 goals in 82 games 5v5 (natural stat trick) at 2.02 gpg, good for a tie of 19th in the league
So far this year we are 92 in 46, so exactly 2 gpg and tied for 15th
