Post-Game Talk: Habs

Good teams lose games to bad teams all they time. Caps just lost 2 straight to Flyers. The Rangers have had their share this year no doubt but I think this particular one is understandable more than the others, at least to me.

sorry but getting the habs at home should be an auto 2 points. the caps aren't actually a good team. they might make the playoffs, but they aren't a contender. if the rangers were running away with the division, fine, bur they aren't. the devils and canes are consistently winning these games. no excuses for blowing this

and again...3 straight games with the forwards puking all over themselves offensively. that's clown sht

Nothing is an auto 2 points in the NHL. They have an illness going through the team, They just came off an epic win against Dallas, and they have injuries to 2 forwards. People forget they are human beings who just aren't at their best every night. This had trap game written all over it from the start. People want to roast them after every loss but I'll give them a pass after going through a 13-2-2 stretch. BTW the Hurricanes just lost to Vancouver tonight and to Columbus last week.

That's not the reason they lost. From the moment the puck was dropped you could tell they had nothing. We play down to lesser opponents a lot and the combination of things I mentioned in a previous post. That's just a fact. Lost to a terrible Chicago team at home and then kicked their ass a few weeks later. We also beat that same counter attacking quick Montreal team 4-1 a few weeks ago. We are on a 13-3-2 run having beaten a ton of playoff teams in that span including Vegas, Colorado, NJ, Canes, Toronto, to name a few. Are they not agile counter attacking teams?
they looked the same as they do most nights this season.

Yeah but the D cannot for the life of them get the puck up to an F with speed, partly because no F's are skating apart from occasionally Tro and Fil trying to deke through the opposing team and Zib going on a gallop. The wingers are standing about with their asses glued to the boards waiting for a puck to push up the ice... We have no transition game and that's been an issue since Gallant came. We did have one under Quinn even if it wasn't perfect. I disliked Quinn because his Pejorative Slured use/punishment of the kids etc, but in some hockey aspects the team has regressed since Gallant took over.

Quinn had his strong points, better counter attacks/rush plays, MUCH better creativity than Gallant. Gallant is much better with the locker room and a canny old fox in some respects when it comes to managing the team's game, but his X and O's are a joke and his ideas very dated.

look i'm not debating the fact its the nhl and you can lose to anyone. the fact is though this is probably the 4th or 5th game against a bottom feeder, almost all at home, they've failed to get at least a point. that's 8-10 points being pissed away. car has put themselves in a better position to eat one of these dumb losses.

and seriously, when do the forwards plan on contributing some offense? the pp has dried up, and for 3 straight games its been fox and miller heroics that allowed everyone to ignore this. they've contributed virtually nothing. that is a glaring hole on this team - the complete and total inability of any of the forwards to generate offense by taking on a defender one on one or beating a goalie from distance with a shot. there are several who should be able too but are too afraid to try or cant help making stupid passes.

i'm actually with you in the sense people are to quick to jump on them generally. they deserve it here though. itd be one thing if they were dominant putting up 45 shots and giving up nothing but that isnt the case at all. they had the puck a lot sure, but did absolutely nothing with it for the most part. when mtl did control it in their zone they allowed them to walk in and needed igor to bail them out again and again. this isn't an anomaly, its the kinda game they've gotten away with for the last few that bit them in the ass today. they need to show they can take control of a game from the jump and not let these tomato cans hang around.

sorry being on pace for 30 points ain't gonna cut it. yes it's pretty watching him control the puck along the boards but it's not enought when you're our #1 RW.
Lafreniere doesn't wanna be here. He will show up playoff time I guess if he feels like it.
“Laf doesn’t wanna be here.”

For sure, as Laf says in all his interviews. The kid would give both nuts to play in Monreal.

Not sure what Drury could make work for one team in a rebuild while his is upgrading (?), but please dear God Drury make a TDL deal with Les Habs. Give them Laf. And get them to throw in that Montebaum guy in return lol.

Here's some crazy stats.

Rangers are 3rd in the league in missed shots.
Trocheck is tied for 1st w/ McDavid in shots that hit the post with 10.
Trocheck is also 6th for missed shots that go over the net.
Zibs is 7th for shots that go wide.

LOL.
Who tracks this? (thx in advance)

Story of the year. Team doesn’t prepare against bottom-tier teams. That little playoff fluke got into their heads. People are paying 300$ to watch how millionares shoot wide using the magic tricks of Mark Ciaccio.

Staple mentioned the flu bug is going around the Rangers team. Panarin, Lindgren and Kravtsov missed practice on Saturday with the stomach bug.

1. I’m not a expert. If I was I wouldn’t be posting here lmao

2. I literally explained the issues are deeper than coaching in the post.

Read slower next time
You literally explained nothing. If you are going to respond with little snarky responses, then maybe you should try giving examples. Just a very lazy response.

Another long pointless streak for Kakko initiated. Where will it stop?

This team has completely ruined its forwards.

It’s not the coach but that’s the easy and lazy thing fans go to.

It’s a deeper problem that hopefully Drury can root out the actual issues in the offseason.
you can't root out laziness unless you drill/train it out.

You give Rob Brind'Amour this exact team, he'd have cups already.

Yes, the lake creature over which there's debate whether or not it exists.

This is like we have a giant elephant on our chests and you're like "can you prove there are elephants?"
I think I understand.

Some things need to be proven with metrics. Others don't.

Until someone can prove to me otherwise, I think the idea that an organization can develop defensemen and goaltenders, but not forwards is nonsensical, primarily because I see no evidence that anyone can develop a hockey player in the NHL.

You can teach them how to play D within a system because a lot of them come to the NHL just getting by on offense and you can get them to train to be in better shape.

I don't believe that if Hughes was drafted by the Rangers and Laf was drafted by the Devils, that it would turn Hughes into a huge disappointment and Laf into one of the best young players in the game.

Does anyone believe their fortunes would be reversed?

I know someone is keeping track of this: have we won a game wearing those clown suits yet?

Every game we create sufficient amount of scoring chances. Honestly we do, even when there seemingly is no plan. Most are off the rush. But shit there is zero finishing ability.
Bingo. I don't wanna crap on them (I'm sure everything has already been stated) but will add that I totally agree, and am having a very hard time remembering when THE LAST TIME was one of our forwards rushing up ice, blasting away and actually scoring with a pinpoint shot. I wanna say Kreider about 3 times last year? Maybe Mika, but I'm not counting PP's.

Personally, I don't want Drury to attempt to bail them out and lose high draft picks. They should all stew in some of their horrific losses. There is 10x the talent on this team than half the league. 5x more than 25% of the league. Regardless, if the effort is not there, then this is the result. If 20 players had the bug during this game, they should STILL have won, some how, some way.

After that awesome, somewhat miraculous adrenaline high victory....
This game really dragged me down. I am sure you as well.
Only good thing, is we can put this behind us quickly. Small solace.

Mika is a Seinfeld episode. Think about it. "He's a low-talker..."
