Habss are as good or better in nets with Dobes/Fowler/Volokhin.

I disagree. US Hockey thinks more highly of Augustine over Fowler for one. Trey has helped lead the US to gold at the World Cup Junior Championship twice and the U18 World Championship once. They rewarded Augustine by making him the only junior they invited to the World Hockey Championships last year becoming the 20th teenager in WHC history and the youngest US goaltender to play in the tournament. He also won the U15 national championship and was a finalist for the Mike Richter award for the best goaltender in the NCAA in his rookie year as a freshman last year.

Habs seem to be around ~2 years behind in the process. Which lines up fairly well with Wings starting in 2019 and Habs starting in 2021. Neither of those "starting points" are exactly accurate, but maybe both fanbases can agree that's where both teams started the actual methodical and deliberate part of the rebuild.
Yeah 2 years sound fair. Ill take that.

Nah, the claims that you wouldn't trade Demidov for any of the who's who of established U25 defensemen in the NHL is hilarious.

The value in a vacuum versus the situation the team is in are completely different things... Of course Quinn Hughes is more valuable than Demidov, but from a team standpoint you already have Hutson and Guhle on the left side and its been 30 years since we had an impact forward.

The only way to get a 100 pts forward is to draft him, I wont trade away our only potential chance to have one

So yeah, id rather have Hutson Guhle and Demidov than Hughes Hutson and Guhle

You really don't realize that Hughes is in an entirely separate tier than Hutson Guhle and Demidov? This is like a Wings fan saying they'd rather have Cossa than Draisaitl because we already have Marco Kasper in the system.

do you think your team would be better with Raymond-Seider Edvinsson or Q, Hughes Seider Edvinsson ?

it just set the rebuild back 5 years because now, your offense is dog shit

Hughes is currently the best defenseman, at least offensively, in the NHL. It’s highly highly unlikely that demidov ever becomes even a top 3 forward in the NHL. Insane take.

We would be better with Hughes and Raymond’s been amazing. But Hughes stats and advanced stats are insane.

of course Hughes is insane, but your team would not be better if you remove your top offensive player and add to an already stacked defense... would be a different topic with an offensively stacked team like Toronto where trading Marner for Hughes would benefit them a lot more than trading Raymond and suddenly Larkin is is supposed to be your top forward with andrew copp in the top 6..

Hughes is definitely better than all of those guys, but its a team sport and even Hughes cannot bring an offensively starved offence to a playoff, look where the canucks are

Your defense is not stacked lmao. Hutson can’t play defense and the rest of your players are supporting cast guys. Habs fans stop being delusional challenge: impossible.

I would certainly upgrade all of them for hughes, but not at the expense of our only game breaking prospect in 30 years.. I would rather trade Hutson + Slaf for Hughes and again to make it clear I do not think Demidov has greater value than those young top defensemen, it just sets us back way behind and suddenly we are in danger of becoming a never ending rebuild like Buffalo

If you're making hypothetical trades, why are you stopping at one?

Take the absolute robbery of getting Quinn Hughes for a single prospect, and then trade Hutson/Guhle for a forward. Shouldn't be too hard to find one because you can afford to take a small "loss" on a deal, because you just got friggin' Quinn Hughes
