I noticed that Hutson steps it up a notch against DET/CHI. That's where he's from. Caufield too. MSL still sees blood for Yzerman not picking him on Team Canada 1st ballot. And I think Detroit sees it as just a regular season game. That's my money odds for you for tonight's game.

well it's good you don't think that's biased, you can dismiss it all you want, we'll see 3-5 years from now. Defence can be learned, Detroit is currently one of the worst offensive teams in the league and their internal solution is...Danielson, Buchelnikov and MBN.
Larkin's gonna be 30 by the time DET get's back into the playoffs, not sure if Debrincat is in their future plans, he's also gonna be close to 30 by the time DET is relevant. No shit scouts value offence, you don't need defensive all-stars, just a good solid system. FLR's #1 was literally a waiver pick up . They went from being a mid to bad defensive to the best by just switching coaches. What's DET path towards becoming a cup contender, winning every game 1-0? With the only goal coming on the PP?

Yes... MBN whose calling card is his shot, and Buchelnikov who is nearly PPG in the KHL. We're truly f***ed.

Nevermind that none of that did anything to rebut the point that calling Detroit a non Top 10 prospect pool is grade A bullshit lmao.

Dang, I totally forgot about MBN. I just looked him up and it's the 2nd best prospect on his team in the SHL behind only.... ASP, Red Wings future star.

MTL have Rasmus Bergqvist (D) on the same team and his numbers have BUST written all over it.

My favorite is Hutson is a future norris winner. Dude is like 5'9 and 140 pounds. 44 good games as a rookie and suddenly you're the next 2025 version of Bobby Orr/Lidstrom hybrid if you play for MTL.

Now they are penciling in Demidov as the next 100+pt kucherov while never suiting up for one single NHL game.... EVER!

And here I thought Toronto fans were nuts. LOL!

When I look at MTL's roster I see a team being built to get chewed up and spit out in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Hutson is outproducing 2 hyped future superstars as a defenseman in route towards the Calder and Demidov is having the best season ever in the KHL for a rookie.

Not saying i don't think the guy you responded to is a bit premature and ridiculous, but your comment is ridiculous as well.

Good thing 99.8 % of the fanbase don't even know Rasmus Bergqvist

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that whoever wins the game tonight will absolutely flood this thread with some very large conclusions
Should be fun , a loss for Detroit tonight could be quite demoralizing. They haven't even been that bad , Ottawa CBJ and MTL have just been on fire lately

Well the point is ridiculous. Yes the team sucked but no they didn't try to tank to get higher picks. Their best picks was Kotkaniemi who is a bust anyway. So yeah they had a headstart over detroit with Caufield, Suzuki and Guhle but guess what? None of those guys are top 10 picks.

No, you're just not understanding the semantics.

"Rebut the point" you literally did not make a point lmao. You're the one who didn't refute my point lol. Saying "any ranking that doesn't have DET top 10 is shit" is not an argument. Are you able to provide an argument that isn't a pure biased opinion?

If the only thing you're capable of is calling stuff you don't agree with bullshit, there's no argumentation going on and we're done here.

Named numerous high end prospects to back it up. You're welcome to name 13-14 teams that have 6-7 prospects better than the guys I listed though.

That would be a better attempt than claiming that I just called it bullshit with no substance to back it up... Which is a lie. But I guess you gotta lie when you can't actually argue the point. :dunno:

Random aside I thought of when I saw the thread title. If a Habs fan is tired of his existing username, "Habs and Habs Nots" would be a great username.

As you were....

I personally think that Montreal will end out better here.

They have a huge prospect pool, Detroit doesn't have anyone of Demidov's caliber, the goalie situation with Dobes/Fowler/Montembault is pretty strong and comparable to Detroit with Cossa/Augustine. I'd give Detroit the edge on defense, I think the center situation is comparable, and it's possible Demidov plays there in which case it's a win for Habs.

The biggest difference here is that the Habs have an amazing team culture and are fully committed to the process that the coaching staff has put forward. This is why teams like Buffalo never go anywhere, and Detroit is going to need to show they can set up something similar to maximize the value of their prospects.

It pains me to say this, but this is how I rank the East rebuilds :

New Jersey
Montreal
.....
Ottawa
Detroit
Columbus
Philadelphia
Buffalo (should be higher but whatever)

Pittsburgh, Islanders and soon Boston will all need a rebuild

This seems pretty random. Got any supporting evidence as to what makes you say this?

Oh yeah? Enlighten me my friend. When did the habs start their rebuilds?

November 29, 2021

I live in Montreal, I have a building 10 mins away from the Bell Center. Don't worry I know a lot about the Habs.

They started sucking (like other rebuilding teams) in 2017-18, meaning they SHOULD have rebuilt earlier, which is the point people are making and that some of you STILL aren't understanding.

lol'd at Buffalo

I think you're right, one year ago Montreal still lacked in elite talent but Hutson and Demidov change the outlook significantly

let's not do that again

No clue about Detroit but vibes have been great in the habs room, they're young and the group is really knit together, even during the tank years and St-Louis is a loved by the players. As someone of has followed the team for 20+ years I can say it's never been like that before but I wouldn't use that as an argument either.
