HUH? Since when does anyone trade essentially 6 first round draft picks. A few of which are top 10

Armia & Evans(if Not extended) will have decent value. Evans will get a 2nd and I can see a contender also giving up a 2nd for Armia especially if we retain on him. I dont expect Dvorak to be traded. Savard might get traded if retained but with only 1 retention spot they have to decide which guy to use it on. (Armia/Savard)
How much does Arnia make . Is the cap hit as detrimental?

Bern in the same way many Rags fans are indifferent to habs young pieces, I don't think Othmann or jones amount to very much. Jones is undersized bottom pairing D and Othman, imo, is a 3rd liner.
There's 0 / no chance habs are giving up Reinbacher and possibly one of hagens or schaefer for a (good) winger in Laf.

Barron isn't a throw in btw....and if that's your logic, then so is Jones who's arguably worse than him.
montreal would never do this
setting aside disagree on some of this
wtf total disregard of LaF

Not total disregard but many of the pieces cancel each other out imo, and I’m not trading reinbacher and a probable top 5 pick and shot at another C or generational D for a 60-70 pt winger. Just my opinion

Thx. Keep in mind Habs have their wingers ..with slafkovsky, Laine and caufield with Demidov coming next season. Dach has proven nothing at 2C yet and hage is several years away. They’ll look to draft misa or hagens imo - unless Schaefer is available. I think Hughes / Gorton would prefer to target a young C if they’re going to deal valuable prices

ok we'll keep Gabe P and vice versa on primary pick

LaF
Othmann
Jones
for
Reinbacher
MON 2025 1st unprotected
Barron
(and cap relief)

Habs get stud W, Oth can go now if you like, Jones plays either side, is useful

Rs will wait on Rein + the pick, Barron = depth for now
Habs pass AGAIN.

Centers are in short supply this deadline. I expect overpayment for Evans and Dvorak

This is a much better bottom 6 C rental crop than last year.

Also a baseline has already been set with the Lars Eller trade, which best believe will be used as a comp in every single negotiation that comes up for a rental bottom 6 C.

Last years market evaporated with Dickinson extending

There was Trenin, who was a winger being experimented with at C as a test because there were so few Cs. Then beyond that I guess Carrick?

This year we already saw Eller moved. Then Sturm, Dvorak, Evans, Faksa, Kunin, Kuraly, etc behind it.

And of course heading into UFA a bunch more bottom 6 Cs from contenders

you can have Dvorak for 50% retention for a small return. Mid pick .
I'm not the GM though. ;) I suspect Hughes will use his one retention slot based on whoever brings back best assets.
I also think he wants to resign Evans. If he can't there could be a bidding war for a 28 Y.O elite penalty killing C. In which case maybe he's worth more than a 2nd rounder
I'd part with the NYRs second in 2025 for Jake Evans. I think the Avs absolutely would.

If I were a team with bad PK like EDM or MIN, I would really consider acquiring duo Armia- Evans. Top PK duo in the league and if Habs retain 50% of Armia's salary, they would not require a lot of cap space.

Jake Evans could be this year's Lehkonen to a team at this deadline.

He really is an incredible depth piece to add to a contender (C, 28 y old, solid on the dots, solid on the PK, can bring offense and play with talented players higher in the line-up if needed)... Very low cap now, UFA to be.

He should bring a lot if Montreal decides to trade him... Not sure they will.

with his age, the fact Dach is struggling, Dvorak getting dealt and Beck only in year one of his AHL career..I think they re-sign him.
hughes doesn't have a choice

Beck will step seemlessly in the line up as soon as this spring.

His game flourished in Laval.

I think he already is a bottom 6 C in the NHL at 20 y old.

Commiting long term at this stage of a rebuild to a piece like Evans is a mistake.

He is the perfect addition to a team that is in its window and that has already locked its core. Montreal is not there yet.

Looking for a 2nd for Evans.
Habs should be asking for more, he's basically the Lehkonen of this year.
A 2nd for Dvorak
Not happening.
A late first for Savard 50% retained.
Not happening either. Maybe a 3rd that becomes a 2nd if the team he gets traded to makes the conference finals.
A 2nd for Armia.
Also not happening.
Matheson want a first and a throw-in. He's signed for another season after this at 4.9million.
Matheson should be used to address another need rather than picks.

Armia won't need retention as more than likely a team trading for him will be sending salary back, more than likely an overpaid 3rd liner that Armia replaces, so a 2nd or 3rd is not unreasonable.

With Montreal all but out of playoff picture looking to move a few veterans. Give younger player like Struble, Newhook more icetime.

Any teams interested the prices are:

Looking for a 2nd for Evans.
A 2nd for Dvorak
A late first for Savard 50% retained.
A 2nd for Armia.
All above have expiring contracts.

Matheson want a first and a throw-in. He's signed for another season after this at 4.9million.
You're not a Habs fan if you're trading Evans.
