I lost hope on those guys bringing back something nice in return, Savars should have been moved when he was actually playing decent hockey.

Evans will most probably be extended.

Dvorak and Armia aren't worth much, maybe a 3rd at best. I don't really care about late picks, I just hope KH doesn't go full Pejorative Slur and extend either one of them!

Lindgren wasn't worth much of anything, the others left after the team made the playoffs.

You don't risk missing the playoffs to rent out players...
The year Koivu and Komisarek left they got spanked, As for Danault, no one saw that run coming, not even us.

If they were a real contenders then fine but keeping a guy just to make it in knowing you will likely get smashed is poor asset management.

Maybe if they make those deals in 2009 they have an asset or two to help them win in 2010 or in 2014.

Its pretty simply to me, if they can help the team then re-sign them but if they will for sure test the market then they have to go unless they are one of the favourites to win it all.

While I got you here, before I forget, share some thoughts pls and we will deliberate later...

Berard
possible Panarin replacement when we don't extend him after next season

checks off most boxes but size.
He is shrimp-ish, I think 5'9 or so

I've said, if he can duplicate the physical center of gravity, etc that made MSL such a tough skater, he can stick. Otherwise, tough. You'll get a few seasons out of him before cumulative wear and tear kicks in

But very fast, great shot, superior passer.
Another 5, maybe even another 3 inches height, this is not a conversation.

What do you add to Barron for Berard
Gabe P [expected to be w/big club next season]
Othmann
Jones
Rs 2025 1st unprotected

for

Reinbacher
Barron
next 4 1st round picks MON has, all lottery protected [ forget is that 6.7.8 ?]

That’s all garbage bro and you know it
false narrative

Rein is a 5OA
Per in a redraft goes closer to 10
Oth was a mid 1st
both together are close enuf to warrant 5OA

Barron is a throw in
while Rs could change course which woud change things, that unpotected 1st currently looks like a big lottery get
sure there are more picks going the other way, but all are protected

so not garbage, AND YOU KNOW THAT

If the run in 2021 could happen despite expectations, it explains why previous guys were kept on expiring contracts: the hope of a surprise run. The NHL is a business and profit comes from playoff games; had it not been for empty arenas , the 2021 run would have been as profitable as a Cup win.

ok we'll keep Gabe P and vice versa on primary pick

LaF
Othmann
Jones
for
Reinbacher
MON 2025 1st unprotected
Barron
(and cap relief)

Habs get stud W, Oth can go now if you like, Jones plays either side, is useful

Rs will wait on Rein + the pick, Barron = depth for now

I like Armia's skillset for a bottom-six role. I'm not sure about his value, but he could be a shrewd pickup for a team poised for a deep run.

Those kind of guys are usually key deadline additions. Armia is good defensively and good on penalty kill
Armia is an ideal pick up for a contender. Great minute eater which is key to closing out leads, and can chip in some goals.

Evans and Savard will have value as well. It all depends on the retention or cap space, but if they want, the habs have assets that are more useful to a contending team.

Like to move Matheson this deadline also.
