Is it possible that he is being hired as goalie director in order to keep him in the organization and be in line to replace Bergevin sooner rather than later? Maybe Molson had a hand in this and Burke seems like very intelligent individual and French can be learned.
I don't think he speaks French.

How many coaches can Price get fired?

Funny how coaches like Julien gets fired because their message are not getting through with the players and they "lost the room".......and when it's Price's coach, oh well, they should have lifetime work with the Habs and if they lose their jobs, it's all on Price.

Bad faith....

Is it possible the message wasn't getting through anymore?
Is it possible that Waite have lost "the goalies"?

Other than for Allen this season (and then again , Allen was like that last year) and the good years of Price, what the F Waite did with our goalies over the years, cause I can't remember one prospect or one back-up goalies that actually played well under Waite in his time with the Habs.

I don't know if Timing or they just waited to have his first good game since that Edmonton game early this season.
Also If they waited for Price to get a win with good % would be hilarious.

But I guess it's just weird timing , still doesn't make any sense to not fire Richardson and Bergevin or Timmins at this point might as well fire the rest

They're sparsing the firings and hirings to give the media more to chew on every week.

Why wasn't he fired at the same time as Julien and Muller?

That's what's puzzling....

Then why not just do it when they fired Claude and Muller? At the very least till Burke is finished his quarantine, doing it now after a much needed win is only going to piss Carey off. Who knows maybe Carey approved it but I highly doubt it. Waite at least has a resume behind him, how the hell does Richardson dodge getting fired. The D has been just as bad as Carey this year.
Did you say Doge?:naughty:

Is Burke quarantining now, or is he now with the team? If he’s with them now and done with quarantine, that may explain the wait. If he’s only starting quarantine now, then yeah, timing is off.

Apparently, he got the news at the same time as we did...

Everyone talks about Price, but Waite was also the goalie coach for guys like Niemi, Kinkaid, Tokarski, Lindgren all of them sucked pretty bad and really decreased in performances once they got to MTL. Kinkaid was a decent starter in NJ, Niemi had pretty good numbers in SJ, Lindgren although he started on a hot streak, never looked like a real NHL goalie and his rebound control was atrocious. Burke was a big goalie who played big, at this point I want someone who will make Price look big in net once again. The pass 2 seasons, Price looks so small for a 6'3'' goalie. This needs to change ASAP.

I think it's just a question of replacement.....Bergevin doesn't seems to have the power to replace his coaches with real new one with new contracts so he has to pick within the organization, Burke isn't a good pick but that's the only one in the organization that could make a little bit of sense.

Ohhhhhh, Bergervin's feeling Frisky at the moment......Who can he fire next? What about the front office cleaning guy that stares at him too long?

Reminds me Ari Gold from Entourage.

How much of this has to do with Primeau (the supposed next one) also sucking the big one in Laval - a systemic goalie coaching approach?

Burke makes sense, doesn't sound like a cheap option though...

The guy was targeting a GM position on top of it... This is definitely not a cheap acquisition happening here...

It probably was decided to do so at the same time, but they needed to find a replacement as they didn't want to deprive their AHL team of another coach for the rest of the season.

He was also named director, maybe there was some back and forth over the post.
