I hate the Tkachuk deal and blame the Suzuki deal for it.
And so he's way more valuable despite putting up worse numbers because:

1. He's physical
2. Captain

Yeah... Ok. Suzuki is better defensively and plays centre.

I'd take Suzuki over Tkachuk any day. Better player, more valuable position, better contract. He's also likely to be the Habs next captain so your dumb captaincy argument will be out the window.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Did you forget about the fact Suzuki was drafted before him and has a season less of experience then him? Or were you just ignoring that? Drafted in a higher position, bigger, stronger...

As a Sens fan, I think it would be awesome if Nick Suzuki became their next captain.

And to stay on topic... what do you guys want for Romanov. Sens won't pay it but I'm still curious.

A few things to consider before...
* Price returns and is back to his normal self.
* Price also plays Olympics and his injury concerns and time loss is in the past.
* Oilers continue to have a great season and are looking for goalie and D upgrades.
* Price is open to waiving his NMC to join the Oilers for cup runs

The base of the offer to be discussed further if there is interest (Trade deadline move):
* Price (Retention down to $6M)
* Chiarot (Retention down to $2M)
for
* Futures (TBD....)
* Koskinen (cap reasons)
* Whatever you want to send back to even out the cap hits but no longer than 1 or 2 years in term.

What are the Oilers willing to spare in futures to make this deal work? 1st round pick and Grade A prospect would be the starting point in case some think we are liquidating Price for whatever. That's not the idea here. The idea is offering Price and Chiarot with retention but we get very solid futures in return. Any interest? Might mean a cup for the Oilers and for the Habs, we accelerate our rebuild

No!
Couldn't care less about the 1st rounder or Koskinen.

Broberg is okay but we have 3 Brobergs in Harris, Struble, Norlinder.

Price at 6 mill is gold.

You want price at 6 million especially with him back on track?
We need something solid or tangible, not magic beans.

The 1st rounder is useless Habs can't draft.
Broberg is redundant, oh and Habs can't develop.
Koskinen is useless.

Price at 6 mill can be had for a roster player and a 1st pick because they obviously going to ask for it.

Absolutely not paying a first for Chiarot.. a second sure ..
No interest in Price at 6 mill for four more years after this season

Would add a B prospect at most to that second.. this draft is much deeper and 1sts hold a higher value

So we’ve all heard rumours of Van looking to potentially change up their locker room.

To MTL —-> Brock Boeser

To VAN —-> Josh Anderson

Does this trade make sense for either team? Which side adds? If any

Montreal definitely adds.

Boeser is still an RFA and is a much better scoring winger.

Really? Are there better goaltending options on the market for cheaper or would you rather ride Koskinen at $4.5M?

Don't think the Canucks are married to Boeser but if they're trading him, it won't be for a downgrade at wing.

Bits and pieces don't really help, either.

Would be looking at a center or RD.

Chiarot might get a 1st, but I wouldn't be the one giving that up for him. And let's be honest about Price, even at 6M, he's possibly a negative asset at this point, especially given that he'll be finishing that contract at 38 years old. I know the OP stipulated the condition that he'd be back to his regular self, but that's a pretty big proviso. Of course you're going to pay a lot for 4 years of "normal" Price, because that's a top 10 goaltender. In reality, he's a big risk.

Are there better options than Price for 6M x 4 years? Very probably yes. And Koskinen, who is the Oilers' backup unless Smith is injured, which he is right now, is off the books at the end of the year.

How long until he falls off the rails again? Bigger chance of that than a 1st/Broberg busting.

Varmalov might be available and I'm sure the Isles would like to rid themselves of their expensive back up

Who knows how GMs evaluate his value based on the fact that he entered the player assistance program.

He's fresh off taking a mediocre team to the SCFs and is arguably the best goalie of his generation. Still has plenty left in the tank and with retention his contract is perfectly reasonable. I can't think of many available players who would be a bigger difference maker in the playoffs than a healthy Carey Price.

I agree that its a gamble, but do you really think Broberg/1st are more likely to be impactful playoff performers in the next 4 years than Price?

hard to say, our biggest need by a mile is RHD ..dont think you have one under 30
Anderson is a good piece though ...just seems a little lateral to me

No, but we have a slightly used, "just over 30" model RHD (Savard) that's all yours for the low low price of future considerations... please?
