Do they? And if hes good value, dont you think hed be worth more to a team that actually needs him, like a contender? The assets he could get are worth more to the Habs than the value he provides to the team.
Except that I have zero confidence that Hughes and his team will get us good assets. I don't think ANY of his picks are any good. His trades of Lekhs, Toffoli, Chiarot haven't brought anything to be too excited about and hardly anyone to build the team around. Slaf and Mesar you kinda start seeing where this is going to end. Reinbechar might still turn out to be a decent D, but hardly top 2. I don't know. At this point my take is if you have a good asset, just keep it.

^^this and it's concerning. A game where it shows that having RHP, gallagher, caufield, newhook etc is a total disadvantage up front. And as you wrote, paired with two marshmallows in Slaf and anderson...it's very problematic
We have very few players who can fight through a check. When the ones who can either don't or won't we are lost. How many penalties did we draw behind the opposition goal vs how many they did behind ours. It's so evident where our plays died and where their plays kept on rolling.

Yeah, I didn't see him. He came out for like the last 20 seconds. Not sure what's going on there... maybe he got hurt?
I’m pretty sure it was a timing thing. He had been on the ice for a while during the 1-2 minute mark. I thought it was odd he went out there so early. I knew he wouldn’t last 2 full minutes out there (even though I wanted him to!!).

Hoping Spinach is OK. Wondering how they decided it was a good idea to let him back out.

The arena has nothing to do with anything.Arizona are not an awful team. They have some good young players and will be a playoff team soon enough. You can't win them all. The habs beat themselves tonight. Sloppy effort. Step back from the ledge and get ready for Saturday's game

Why is he here, really?
I remember reading that Matheson would get Norris vote in this board during the preseason.
Aintnoway

People who think Hugues Fleeced Pittsburgh with that trade are delusional. Matheson just had the hockey of his life last season

He was bad. Cannot score goals ffs.
Clearly Suzuki is the issue when our entire right wing can't play in the nhl

They have Will Smith who's had a strong showing so far in the NCAA and they're practically a lock to get either Celebrini/Eiserman this draft.

That alone is a better young forward core than everything the Habs have right now.
yet we have the deepest mix of young D or prospects. Sharks dont come close in that regard. And sure they might get Celebrini and have Smith but id rather Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Newhook, Slaf, and a likely top 10 pick Forward,

The sharks are way behind and have almost nothing but a few (empty) promises

It's hard game to lose against a non playoff team, who were playing on back to back nights. So many needless penalties. Hard to win games when you spend that much time in penalty box. Wifi, Matheson, Barron all took stupid penalties.

- I thought Allen played solid.
- Gallagher playing like Gallagher of old. I thought he was our best player. On pace for 25 goals this season.
- The surgical line was our best line.
- Dvorak gets back need to play one of our centers with Suzuki line. RHP just not producing.

People calling this the worst game of hockey ever have forgotten the Ducharme era and last year pretty quickly…

That being said, that second line sucks. Newhook is lost and the two wingers are displaying IQ close to absolute 0.

By the way Caufield should also score more, seems like he shoots a lot but is not a real danger.

Skipping on Michkov might turn out to be as bad as drafting the big lug who can’t play hockey with the 1OA.

I agree with the trade returns, so far it’s all junk that hasn’t helped at all.
