100% especially with a slow lateral moving goalie like skinner who’s still a big boy and covers a lot of net if you don’t force him to move

Yeah, we needed to force Skinner to move laterally. He's terrible at that. Both times he was forced to do that the puck almost trickled in by itself because he's so damn awkward at it.

I do not get that bench management in OT. Terrible. Starting with Carrier? Who the f*** plays defense against a team from the opposite conference? You need speed, play Newhook more. Slaf? today? Why? Geez, where was Heineman? I mean, we saw Dvorak, Slaf and Carrier in OT...insane. And if Dvorak is there for faceoff purpose, Evans had a great night there. No need for Dvo.

St. Louis was sleeping. But we get 1 point.

I completely disagree. We didn't see the same game and we don't watch the same Oilers. Bench management is the only reason the team came out with 1 point tonight. Dvorak and Evans are there because there are two sides, both have different handedness and Dvo can replace Evans if he gets taken off by the ref. Even though he's hated here, he's also a good skater who's reliable without the puck, if needed.

There is also absolutely no chance at all for this team to go toe to toe with Bouchard-Draisaitl-McDavid in a 3 on 3 matchup and come out ahead. It is an almost guaranteed loss. Every time Suzuki's line, which was the good tonight considering the intensity of the game, were up against the big guns they had significant issues defensively. They almost came close to winning with Matheson missing the 2-1 and the refs missing a clear call imo. This was a road game and finally the staff starts coaching like every point matters, with the tight games and small margins of the playoffs in mind.

I'm assuming the Rangers are a lock since their roster is too talented to not pick it up when the games matter. So I'm looking at it as a 1/4 chance we get in. Either us, Detroit, Ottawa or Columbus should get that final spot.

I'm expecting us to miss by 3-5 points. But, it's still fun to cheer for wins instead of losses.

We go from a 5 game winning streak to a 6 game unbeaten streak.

Entertaining game with a lot of chances from both teams in the overtime.

Montembeault wasn’t very good. He was giving out juicy rebounds all night, was beaten cleanly and had at least 4 pucks hit posts, and overall just looked shaky.

Kind of a dirty game as well, lots of chippy stuff away from the play, and guys taking runs at others. Suzuki looked like a man possessed going up against McDavid. You can tell he was quietly pretty pissed off that he was left off team Canada’s roster and wanted to send a message.

Mike Matheson continues to be an enigma. It’s hard to understand what or how he processes the game and makes such obvious gaffes continually.

Hutson had another solid game and was a threat all night. That pass he made off the rush to Armia was beautiful.

Thought Anderson was looking for trouble tonight. He seemed to take a couple runs at Nurse, who wanted nothing to do with it…

Struble was punishing Draisaitl all night, and made several big hits. The more he plays, the more he looks like he’s going to be a very solid, physical defenseman with decent wheels.

Overall a fun game to watch, just couldn’t buy a break in the overtime and were once again (in my opinion) badly outcoached.

A veteran center who can play decent minutes should be the only item on Hughes shopping list tomorrow. Marty has no faith in Beck and is needlessly shortening his bench as a result.

When they were circling I was screaming at my screen, "no problem guys, keep your man, keep your man....keep your man"...and then Evans decide to wander in the wilderness for no freaking reason. It's always baffling to me why players do that. That's all they have to do! If you do that, they don't score. It's that freaking simple. It always pisses me off. I guess you can't teach how to un-dumb a brain.
Evans was the worst player on the ice but he did have a brutal matchup

While I think we got a bit lucky to get 1 point after sitting on the tie in the 3rd it's still frustrating to lose with 6 sec to go in OT.

Interesting day tomorrow, tough decisions for our management team.

The team was dialed in??

We were turning it over like there was no tomorrow, we did not play well back half that game. Laine has played much worse games for us lol, that 2nd line needs a NHL center tomorrow.

LUCKY to get a point.

Yeah, they were. Playoff type game and everyone was giving 100% outside of Laine. The Oilers, when they're on, are just a machine that are hard to stop and limit mistakes against, especially at home.

Evans was good at the dot and actually did things. Laine has the title tonight, brutal in all aspects of the game.

I've been watching your game since I slept through ours.

Edmonton was better, nothing to solve here, the time zone difference showed on you. Although what Hutson did... . Btw, Laine played very well but again played less at 5v5. I hope Patrik will continue to fight.

Coaching tonight though woof

Dvorak and Carrier to start OT. Then Dvorak and Evans. Trying to not lose 3v3 is just stupid.

Not playing the 1st PP unit the entire PP at the end of the 1st period.

Xhekaj with Savard on the ice with 5 mins left in a tie game.

Just horrible decisions all around.
you really hate MSL don't you  meanwhile, 11 of last 12 pts in tight WC race

As much as i agree with u, Matheson was the only one all OT creating a chance. All team looked scared to do anything, boring as hell.

I thought Matheson had a good game even though I wished he passed on that 2 on 1 in OT.

Carrier on the hand had a really tough game probably his worst since he joined us.

He was good on faceoffs but unbelievably soft with his clearing attempts, brutal passes, and I don't even want to talk about his play on the game winning goal.

Laine/Slaf/Newhook were all ass too. Evans gets a pass obviously because he faced the top players in the league.
