ExactlyMatheson is a good D that is being used incorrectly. He is being overused and put into situations that expose his game. Not his fault.

Habs made him an offer, but his buddy Gaudreau convinced him to come to Columbus. Can we reverse time and re-sign Monahan last summer?
There probably aren't a lot of goaltenders who can. While there were some goals he should have stopped his teammates should have been making his job easier considering his workload. Team defense was terrible.Monty with the 844 sv%
He can't handle 4-5-6 games in a tight timeline.......................we need something to happen after the break to get us a backup who can help Monty carry the load.
He's going to be the backup at best when we compete. We need a #1 goalie, it's either going to be Fowler or someone else.Monty with the 844 sv%

No one is blaming him at all................he has not been consistent that's all, and it is showing in spades.Blaming Monty is pretty funny coming from peoples who are supposively following the Habs, the guy played in 22 of the last 23 games we played.
Separate issue.

He seems to be amazing in the first two periods, and awful in the 3rd ( Pens game )
Or great for a game or two and then awful for a game.
There is no way he should be even put in this position......we need a backup to help carry the load. He is playing way too much.
Price as he matured, became in very good shape, where as Monty still seems a little heavy and out of shape at times? Or is that just me....Way way to much i'd say, don't remember any Habs goalie in recent history being mishandle that way, they're lucky he hasn't been injured with that kind of loadwork.
Is it? I want a team where one of our guys can say "Columbus sucks, f*** 'em..." And them bully them physically all game anyway.

I'm not big on this kind of stuff to be honest, but last night would have been a good game for Xhekaj to remind the Blue Jackets there would be consequences with how they were targeting Laine (which was overtly obvious).
But I suppose with Olivier on their bench, maybe it just wasn't a winning proposition....

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone address this.
Once it became clear that the BJs were doing with Laine, should the Habs have done the same to their star players?
I see him as a 1B type goalie. Give him a good defensive structure and split starts and he'll be good. He's not gonna be a clear #1 on a contending team. Ideally Fowler pans out and Monty is the backup. He's going to be the backup at best when we compete. We need a #1 goalie, it's either going to be Fowler or someone else.
A brain sprain?Dach not lifting the puck on the 2nd attempt says all you need to know about this guy. That’s not a knee issue
More like the scarecrow from the wizard of ozA brain sprain?
The have to revamp the bottom six and add size, physicality and grit. These guys have to be tough to play against. Habs are a soft team with many smaller guys.Is it? I want a team where one of our guys can say "Columbus sucks, f*** 'em..." And them bully them physically all game anyway.

That Dach chance basically was the difference maker in hindsight and also sums up the season for him. He's reminding me a lot of Anderson last year, someone who is getting no luck and can't even even grade A chances. We should have won that one, Dach and Caufield could have put it away but failed.
Monty didn't give us a save when we needed it. He's burned out and needs a rest.
Matheson was his usual self.
Hutson continues to impress. He blows my mind. How good will he be at 23-25 years old?
It was a good stretch of games with some tough opponents on the horizon.
The GDT was legendary which made my night, cheers all.
Best of luck. You're in my thoughts brother.I might owe you more I just got sent to ER.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Appreciate it.
In fairness to Monty. There aren't really a lot of goalies anymore who could.Monty with the 844 sv%
