Post-Game Talk: Habs lose third straight game. Jets run Habs out of Bell Centre.

I will repeat it....whenever you want to project a winning lineup 2 or 3 years down the road, you CANNOT have Guhle in your top 4. Put him in your bottom 2....hence if he is still hurt, you should find a way to make it up for. But a top 4 NEEDS to include other names than Guhle in it. The guy is injury prone. Not his fault. That's who he is. But you can't count on him.

That being said...that's then a problem. Who do we have top 4? Hutson.....Reinbacher....and? And that's before having seen Reinbacher...lol.

That team is far from ready.
Carrier and Matheson are young enough to still be in their primes, or close to their primes, forcthe next 5 years.

But yeah, if Guhle can't find a way to avoid the injury bug, that will be a big problem.

He said it himself he doesn't want to add weight because it will reduce his speed. But I think if he doesn't bulk up, he'll keep getting injured from getting the worst of collisions...

Habs started off strong, but only managed 1 goal.

Another example that the team needs more skill. Like, more than just Demidov.

Habs will likely try to swing for a sizeable deal, or get some rights to the better free agents to get some extra negotiation time.

Also makes me wonder if the Habs look and heavily consider buying Gallagher out. Not because his cap hit is preventing the Habs from being active, but rather he's holding a spot that could be upgraded on.

Anderson PKs and has done a solid job, while being a big body and another person who can Chuck knuckles, so I can see him being saved.

Missed a big chance to gain on the teams around them, who also all lost..............can't win em all eh guys.

Moving on, must win thursday vs the Wild.

I'm sure they are deflated but they will get back to work. They have gone through lots of this so far this season.

Good point. Habs did start out strong and had several high danger scoring chances. Quite often, it's a momentum thing but if you don't score when you are peppering them, it feeds into their rebound for the rest of the game. Habs have done that in reverse to other teams as well.

However, the Jets are a good team. I got a good look at them last night and their depth is stronger than I thought. They are probably going to add at the TDL as well. They are a sleeper cup contender but I don't think they get through the Oilers

This is going to be a big focus for our fans over the next few weeks.

He definitely does.

What the hell was that Matheson-Carrier pairing? Guhle - Carrier has been the defensive pairing against all top lines since Carrier's arrival. Matheson and Carrier played like they never played with each other, which they haven't. Carrier had his worst game in a Montreal uniform tonight.
That's totally the result of Suzuki praising Matheson for playing the hardest match-up every night and MSL thinking "oh maybe I should!!!". :sarcasm:

For a few games now, MSL has been reverting to count more on his veterans over the kids (i.e. plays Matheson more, plays Dvorak/Gally more and at time you don't want them playing)...and it's shows because those vets aren't that good.

Man this team misses Heineman.
I hope Struble has gotten his game back but watching him play in Laval he was no better than any other Dman down there. Mailloux and Engstrom were better in the 2 games I saw.
I have a feeling they will call up Mailloux

Heineman injury just blew the depth out of the bottom 6 and it's pretty much a liability out there now. But Marty loves Dvorak for some reason, so thought it was appropriate to pull the goalie with his line on the ice.

Guhle's injury isn't sustainable, it's too many minutes to Matheson which will cause his play to nose dive even more. Struble will have an important stretch to make a claim that he's part of the future here.

2nd line is showing more life but Newhook needs to hone in his finishing and Laine needs to do more than turn the puck over with every possession.

Here to bring some positivity again!
All the teams in the playoffs race lost yesterday so the standing is status quo right now. It sucks to lose but Winnipeg is the best team in the league with tremendous depth and the Habs didn't play that bad.
Pulling the goalie with the 4th line on the ice was a bit absurd but to be fair they were already on the ice with puck possession in the o-zone.
Hopefully Philly loses tonight.

1000%

Reinbacher
Hutson
Mailloux
Guhle
Koniyushkov
Engstrom
Struble

Is at the very least a solid core of defensman who should all be top 6 defensman in their mid 20s.

But we DO! Need a TRUE number 1 defensman SOON
A right handed 2c and a 1 RHD. Feels like rinse ans repeat… At least Demidov is coming at 1lw.

2nd line needs a nhl-level center, not a rehabing winger with a 35% lifetime fo% and 43 goals total over 6 seasons

Some of you need to learn how to be frustrated in the micro while maintaining optimism in the macro. We are incomplete product that lost to probably the best team in the league. Not every game tips the scale on a rebuilds success.. I can’t believe I have to type this out

@The Real Timo loses it at almost every loss. His main punching bag is MSL, but he's added Hughes and all the players in recent times.

oof. Guhle looks like will be out for his usual several weeks.

It's the kids! They called me Mr Glass!!!

I thought Dvorak was just brutal with the puck yesterday. He's very good without the puck. But man, some chances that he misses or blows is pretty momentum killing.

Gallagher looked exhausted from the moment the puck was dropped. He is gassed.

Matheson also looks completely gassed.

Kaiden Guhle with his usual injury time off. It's becoming a casual yearly habit for him.
He has that Injury prone tag now, which I suspected already at the beginning of the season. Can't count on this guy for more than 55 games a year seems like it.

If I was KH/JG I would try to trade him for the highest possible offer asap before he loses value.

Imo management has had that tag on him for some time, otherwise they would've signed him max term like all the young premiere players (Nick, Cole & Slaf).

Is there ever a time when Dvorak doesn't look brutal with the puck?

Engstrom is progressing really well. Will make the team next camp.

Its funny watching the Habs make 20 consecutive passes on the perimeter just to lose the puck. They need to get back to scoring dirty goals. This is what hurt them at the beginning of the year. They keep trying to only score off pretty plays. Need Heineman back so bad.
The Jets have learned their lesson from when we beat them in the post season.
Block out and let Hellybuyck see the puck. The only difference is they give their goaltender a ton more run support than we gave Price. Pain in the ass team to play against and they were missing their Captain Lowry who is a piece of work himself. They look like they are very close to having a Championship caliber team. Can you imagine if the Next Canadian team to win the cup was Winnipeg...
