Post-Game Talk: Habs Lose in Shootout

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Was a great so goal, and he made a great pass in the neutral zone to Newhook, and I'm a Laine fan.

But oh my, how many turnovers did he have tonight????? It's turnover after turnover, after turnover...
Funny thing is, his turnovers were due to bad passes (see, still need time to return his shape), while not losing pucks in transition (from what I saw). For us, it was the opposite. 😼

I think the fans got down on Andy last year because not only wasn't he scoring. He didn't bring that "wrecking ball" style that we've seen him play this season. If he continues to play this way. I think you'll continue to see the negative talk about him, fade away.
He’s playing to his strengths but this season, he was also being assigned a role that optimizes what he has to offer.

He was used in the top 6 last season and that clearly wasn’t for him.

Xhekaj destroyed Middleton’s vintage hobo face.

I think Middleton got surprised by the left jabs. He never expected Arber to use both hands. The ice tilted when the left were coming non stop. Middleton looked so stunned, he even put his hand to try and protect himself, which is something you rarely see in a heavyweight bout.

Agreed, and I think that's what frustrated Andy last year. You could see his confidence was gone, and it literally sucked the energy out of him. There were a lot of nights it looked to me like he was either hurt, or simply mailing it in.

The Islanders game felt like a point lost, this game felt like a point stolen. So I guess I can't complain too much.

A 3 game winning streak would be incredibly helpful going into the back to back with Florida though. That could very easily be 2 losses.
If they play around .550 until the end, unless another team goes nutso in the last 10 games, they should pass through.

Again, I’m not expecting it myself as the remaining schedule is just a killer. They are meeting a lot of playoff bound teams in there, and not ‘des pieds de céleri’. It they make it, it would be a major, major accomplishment. Remember my 84 points expectation in October? 😉

By that logic it should have been Slaf... afterall he scored 2 tonight. Shootout is a crap shoot, no doubt, but you gotta try and maximize your chances. Slaf, Hutson, Gally, even Roy should go ahead of Dvo. And I love Dvo... I want him re-signed for another 5 years :D
Maybe so too! I wouldn’t have been against any of those, including Roy. He’s got silk mitts. SO are shitty crapshoots to me.

Cole was nowhere near his standard. He wasn’t sharp and his shot count doesn’t reflect his game. Many other posters commented as much.
Disagree fully. Creating that many shots reflects how sharp his game was. The finish not being there is what it is... Mackinnon also fired off 6 shots fyi. But between the two, CC had a stronger game end to end imo. When you can play at that level, your in rare company imo

Many posters make a lot of poor comments, not sure I'd use that as a validation lol

Monty let in his usual softy, had some horseshoe luck that the Av missed an open net and bailed out by 3 posts and went 50% in shootout. Yes he made some good saves too but sorry, that’s overall meh at best.
Agree to disagree here.

Anderson
Slaf
and perhaps Newhook were best players tonight. I shit on Matheson a lot but he had one of his better games.

Strubble had a very strong game as well.

Ditto Evans, Dvo & Suzuki.

I had 'em at .500 and was hoping for a decent goal diff.
If you take away those stinkers early on we'd certainly be in the green.

I have a question, in the second part is there not possible for the same players to shoot (SO)? It seems to him that in the past it was possible.
